The SWAC welcomes two new head coaches in 2010, and with the departure of
Southern’s Pete Richardson, Anthony Jones at Alabama A&M now becomes the
“dean” of SWAC coaches as the longest tenured head coach in the conference.
Jones is entering his 9th season with the Bulldogs.
Replacing Richardson at Southern is Stump Mitchell, and replacing Willie Totten
at Mississippi Valley State is Karl Morgan.

Grambling defensive end Christian Anthony has been
named national Peseason Defensive Player of the Year
by College Sporting News for NCAA Div. I-FCS. The
selection was made prior to Anthony’s heart attack that
has his playing status in question for 2010, but CSN is
honoring its choice. In all, eight SWAC student-athletes
were selected on the CSN Preseason FCS All-America
team.
