Spring 2006
Overview
• The NCISL will be running two skill improvement programs for the 2006
season
• Goal keeping skills
• Outfield skills
• All NCISL players may apply to take part
• The NCISL will be partnering with professional soccer academies to
deliver the programs
• Both programs will have six 90 minute sessions
Goal Keeping
• 6 week session aimed at improving your goal keeping skills
• Players from all NCISL divisions can attend
• All sessions will be at the University of Ottawa
• Price is $125 per person
• Dates
• Mondays starting May 8th at 6:15pm or
• Thursdays starting May 11th at 8:00pm
• Players select which day they want to attend on their application form
Goal Keeping Program
• Week 1 – Footwork and ball handling
• Week 2 – Closing down attackers and effective distribution
• Week 3 – Managing high balls and crosses
• Week 4 – Owning the box
• Week 5 – Facing the penalty
• Week 6 – Dead ball situations
Goal Keeping Coaching Staff
• Head coach is Tania Singfield of
the Golden Gloves Academy
• Tania is a former Canada
international goal keeper
• Tania was a member of the 1995
Canada World Cup Squad
• Tania started the Golden Gloves
Academy in 1996 and has since
coached throughout the country
including sessions with the
Canadian National Team
Outfield
• 6 week session aimed at improving your outfield soccer skills
• Players from all NCISL divisions can attend
• Sessions will be at an NCISL field
• Price is $75 per person
• Dates
• Fridays starting May 12th at 6:15pm or
• Mondays starting May 15th at 6:15pm
• Players select which day they want to attend on their application form

• Week 1 – Controlling the ball
• Week 2 – Passing the ball
• Week 3 – Shooting
• Week 4 – Defending
• Week 5 – Making space
• Week 6 – Dribbling
Outfield Coaching Staff
• Greg Holden is Director of Soccer
at the Scorpion Soccer Academy
• Greg grew up in England but is a
former US Collegiate player
• Greg has coached since 1990 in
both the USA and Canada
• Greg has his FIFA and USSF
coaching certification

• Jay Crier is Head Coach of the
Scorpion Soccer Academy
• Jay also grew up in England and
is a former England schools
international
• Jay also played professionally in
England

How To Take Part
• All NCISL members may apply to take a skills program
• Download the application form found on the NCISL web site and follow
the instructions on that form
• There is a limit to the number of players who can take part
• Positions will be awarded on a first come first served basis
