There is no limit on the size of a team, and you don’t all have to ride the same route! In fact, your team members can include volunteers or other nonriders who can register as virtual riders. Connect with other Team Captains by joining the Ride For Roswell Team Captain Facebook group! 2 getting started Just follow these three easy steps, and you’ll be on your way! Watch our YouTube tutorial for assistance. Potential team members could come from the following: • Family • Friends • Co-workers • Neighbors • School NOTE: This is a great way for your place of employment to promote a healthy lifestyle in the workplace. Consider reaching out to various departments to see if they would be interested in having a friendly competition to see who can recruit the most team members, and raise the highest dollar amount! • Place of Worship • Clubs or Hobbies • Organizations Provide potential team members with your team name and instruct them select “Join a Team” when they register. Remember, this is not a race. There are routes available for people of all skill levels – including being a Virtual Rider! Tell them why you’re riding and how they can join your team. 4 team captain action plan recruit motivate fundraise prepare ride celebrate As a Team Captain, be sure your team members are committed, excited and prepared from start to finish. Communicate regularly and provide updates of the team’s progress. This can be done via text, email, in-person, through a social media group page and so on. Encourage everyone to keep pushing and remind them why their efforts are so important! Download our social media profile and cover photos at rideforroswell.org for your teams use. 5 team captain action plan recruit motivate fundraise prepare ride celebrate Gather your team to develop a plan. Create a challenging yet realistic fundraising goal that everyone agrees on, and share ideas of how each individual plans to fundraise. Make sure everyone is equipped with the official Fundraising 101 guide and has a stock of fundraising tools ready to go! Tip: If you’re a returning team, try setting your initial goal higher than last year’s. Hold a team fundraiser at one of our Beers & Gears Happy Hours or post your team fundraising event to our community events calendar to promote it, and also post it to your personal social media accounts. Upon completion of the event, the funds raised can be turned in and divided evenly among the team members to count towards their personal fundraising commitment. This is a great way to help team members who are nervous about fundraising! When your team has met its goal, raise it a little higher! Don’t be afraid of a little friendly competition amongst your team members. Have an incentive for the team member who raises the most amount of money. 6 team captain action plan recruit motivate fundraise prepare ride celebrate Rides: A great way to build team spirit 1.
