WHAT IS GAELIC4GIRLS?
It is initially an 8 week programme for girls aged between 8 years and 12 aimed at increasing
participation in Ladies Gaelic Football. This is ideal for Girls who never played football before
and would like to try it out. The programme is focused on fun and participation, allowing
new girls to get an introduction to Ladies Gaelic Football in a non-competitive environment.
Registration & initial training will be on Tuesday 24 th in Donore School Hall from 7pm to
8pm and thereafter training will be in St Mary’s pitch on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm. On
completion of the programme, participants are presented with certificates and t-shirts for
their participation and are given the opportunity to join St Mary’s. Having completed the
programme the girls will then participate in a fun Mini Blitz. The cost for the programme is
€2 per week. Please note that players are covered by Public Liability Insurance only.
Personal Injuries are not covered. Following the 8 weeks, the girls will be encouraged to
register with St Mary’s GFC and those that do will be integrated into the existing teams.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROGRAMME?
It will be held on a weekly basis, with each session lasting one hour. The girls will be taught
the basics of Gaelic Football through FUN Skill Games in a circuit style set-up.
