Development of female attracting system for the efficient management of fruit fly,
Bactrocera zonata (IAEA CRP No 11475/RB)

Integrated management of fruit flies in Pakistan (ALP, PARC Coordinated Project).

Use of nuclear techniques for colonization and production of egg and larval parasitoids of
sugarcane borers.(CRP No10779/RB)

Integrated control of sugarcane borers.

Integrated management of cotton bollworms and sucking complex.

Co- Investigator, of IAEA Coordinated research Project No. Pak- 13940.

Augmentation of parasitoids for area wide management of sugarcane borers using
nuclear techniques (2006-2010).

Extension of bio-control programme with coordination of sugar mills and NGOS.

Advancement in the mass rearing of Chrysoperla carnea for inundation in cotton,
sugarcane and other crops.

Significance of using different filler materials to avoid cannibalism in larvae of
Chrysoperla carnea

Worked for the development of larval diet for the economical mass rearing of C. carnea

Provision of different proteins in adult diet of Chrysoperla carnea

Quality assessment of the laboratory reared insects
ACHIEVEMENTS:

Developed female attracting system of fruit flies, Bactrocera zonata and B. dorsalis for
effective population suppression and facilitate monitoring of fruit flies.














Developed a full package based on Bio-control Technology for management of cotton
pests using Trichogramma against bollworms and a broad-spectrum egg/larval predator
Chrysoperla for sucking complex.
Rearing of Chrysoperla carnea a predator of sucking complex of cotton is a difficult job
but it is being reared successfully in bio-control labs. in NIA, Tandojam.
Developed artificial larval diet for Chrysoperla carnea for the first time in Pakistan.
An area of 600 hectares of cotton was treated successfully with bio-control technology at
two different sites in Hyderabad district.
Prolonged the storage of bio-control agents through the use of nuclear techniques in
conjunction with low temperature.
Induced resistance in bio- control agents against pesticides by the application of nuclear
techniques.
Determined suitable temperature for storage of different life stages of Chrysoperla
carnea.
Found out the Influence of relative placement of Trichocards in the plant canopy on the
survival of parasitoids in the sugarcane field.
Determined the potential of irradiated parasitoids, Trichogramma chilonis to parasitize
the insecticide treated host eggs.
Significance of deploying or not deploying supplemental irradiated hosts to enhance the
establishment of parasitoids in the sugarcane fields.
Find out the effect of providing different proteins in adult diet of Chrysoperla carnea.
Determined the suitable filler material to avoid cannibalism in larvae of C. carnea
Determined the predatory potential of Chrysoperla carnea against mealy bug in the
laboratory.
Studied the effect of secondary predators (Ants, Spiders etc.) on the initial survival and
establishment of parasitoids and predators in the cotton field.
