Post Number: VAC-1613 Based at: Exmouth Host Force: This role will be hosted by Devon & Cornwall Police working within the Modern Slavery National Police Transformation Project. Applications are invited for the post of National Insight Researcher working for the Modern Slavery Transformation Programme. The Modern Slavery National Police Transformation Project is an ambitious task that will unite a large number of public sector and private partners, generating the specialist knowledge and expertise needed to support investigations and make the UK a more hostile place for those involved in Modern Slavery crimes to operate. A strong team behind the scenes is needed to make this happen. The role holder will work as part of a national team delivering the UKs first analytical strategy in response to the Modern Slavery Threat, enabling the Police Service to deliver an agreed evidence base (combining performance, academic and intelligence information) for scrutiny at a national ministerial level. Principal Responsibility: In particular to: Identify, prepare and review qualitative and quantitative information sources, preparing briefings, research packages, literature reviews, and summaries to support national strategic and performance analysis. Manage the processes linked to the flow of data returns into and out of the police service, providing a national overview across England & Wales. Amalgamate, review, quality assure, code and enter data into a range of systems. Facilitate the movement of information about risky places, people and types of offending between ROCUs, and provide a central data matching process which will provide intelligence leads back to Forces. Support the identification of intervention points in systems of modern slavery offending, enhancing the impact of operational activity. Support the publication of information to key stakeholders, and dissemination of intelligence and performance products. Keep the published output of the team up to date via Polka, Europol Knowledge Hub, and other shared information platforms. Assist in the coordination and facilitation of operational debriefing activity across Police Forces in England and Wales. The role is part of a team that will exist for up to 2 years (until April 2019) in order to build knowledge and to improve the quality and consistency of the UKs policing response. The role is likely to involve frequent travel throughout the UK to support colleagues in other policing areas and to debrief investigations. The post is subject to SC vetting clearance.
