2016/17 Pre-Season Tournament Details
Shawbury United’s FOURTH pre-season junior football tournament will take place on Saturday/Sunday August
27/28th 2016.
PLEASE NOTE YOUR TEAM WILL PLAY ON THE SATURDAY MORNING, SATURDAY AFTERNOON,
SUNDAY MORNING OR SUNDAY AFTERNOON. PLEASE SEE BELOW.
Please note that as our Tournament is a PRE-SEASON event, the age groups will be the age groups for the NEXT
season 2016/17, i.e. if your team competed in the Under 9 age group THIS season 2015/16, they will enter the
Under 10 competition, and will be organised using next season’s rules and team sizes.
Team sizes are as follows: (*To be confirmed, we will inform you of team size changes immediately)
Under 7s – 5 a side (Saturday morning)
Under 8s- 5 a side (Saturday afternoon)
Under 9s- 7 a side (Saturday morning)
Under 10s- 7 a side (Saturday afternoon)
Under 11s- 9 a side (Sunday morning)
Under 12s- 9 a side (Sunday afternoon)
Under 13s- 11 a side (Sunday afternoon)
Under 14s- 11 a side (Sunday morning)
Under 15s- 11 a side (Saturday morning)
Under 16s-11-a-side (Saturday afternoon)
The tournament will be held at Thomas Adams Secondary School, Wem. Once sufficient teams have entered and
fees paid, entrants will be informed of specific timings for the day.
There will be a full programme of entertainment throughout the day, with catering facilities on site serving hot and
cold food and drinks, ice cream, sweets, plus various other stalls. Ample car-parking will be provided, £2 a car to
include a tournament programme. Please ensure all parents are made aware of the parking charge.
Please use the LOWE HILL ENTRANCE to park.
We will have qualified officials to officiate in ALL games and would like to remind you that each team is
responsible for its players, coaches and spectators. Any disputes will be settled by the Tournament Coordinators.
First Aid and toilet facilities will be provided.

ALL Age Group Competitions
There will be a maximum number of teams in each age group and late entries may not be able to be considered.
NOTE! – The format will be flexible for different numbers of entries in each age group, but our overriding
principle will be to ensure the boys and girls play as much football as possible.
The tournaments will be played in accordance with the FA guidelines for mini soccer (5-a-side to 7-a-side) and the
FA guidelines for 9-a-side and 11-a-side football (incorporating the offside regulations).
Players may only play for one team throughout the tournament.
5-A-Side Competition (Under 7’s/Under 8’s)
In accordance with FA regulations, all players will be considered winners, with all participants receiving certificate,
with winners and runners-up receiving a medal.
7-A-Side Competitions (Under 9’s and Under 10’s)
The winners and runners up of the U9 and U10 age group competitions will be presented with medals.
9-A-Side Competitions (Under 11’s to Under 12’s)
The winners and runners up of the U11-U12 age group competitions will be presented with medals.
11-A-Side Competitions (Under 13’s to Under 16’s)
The winners and runners up of the U13-U16 age group competitions will be presented with medals.
