INFORMATION FOR U.S. PLAYERS
Entry Deadline:

of Entry &
Payment:
Tuesday December 3, 2013 11:59PM MST USAB National Office Time
Registering players will receive an email confirmation generated by the USAB Online Entry
System and it will include: events entered and for doubles, partners selected as well as the
amount paid online.
Receipt of payment and entry confirmation email is the conclusive evidence of receipt of
entries before the deadline.

Entry Fees:
U.S. players:
$110 per person for up to three (3) events.
Entry fees must be paid online at the time of entering online
The entry fees will not be refunded if a U.S. Player withdraws after the USAB Entry
Deadline Tuesday December 3, 2013 11:59PM MST.
If a U.S. player withdraws before the USAB Entry Deadline, the entry fee will be refunded
but USAB will retain $10 as admin fee.

BWF ID:
Entry is open to any USA Badminton member in good standing who has a BWF ID. Please
note that only USAB players with BWF # ID are registered on the BWF Active Player Database.
U.S. Citizens
If you have never competed for the U.S. you must do the following:
Step 1 - join USAB as a Member
Step 2 - obtain a BWF ID
Obtaining a BWF ID
In order to do that, complete the BWF New Player Profile.
Complete the form, type in ‘CAPITAL” and save in “WORD FORMAT.”
You should use your legal name as in the passport when completing the BWF New Player
Profile.
Applying
Email a copy of your passport (in pdf) and the completed BWF New Player Profile Form
to Mohan Subramaniam, at [email protected] and Lauren LeQuire at
[email protected] by November 1, 2013.

Late Application Penalty
If the application is received by November 1, 2013, there will be no Late Application
Penalty.
If the application is received between November 2, 2013 – November 8, 2013, a Late
Application Penalty of $50 will be charged
Applications between November 2, 2013 – November 8, 2013, must include a completed
Credit Card Authorization Form
Late application without the completed Credit Card Authorization Form will be considered
invalid and USAB will not process the application.
Note
The process may be time consuming one as it involves the USAB communicating with the BWF
to obtain the BWFID. As such, USAB does not guarantee that the BWF will be able to approve
the BWF ID in time.
Non-U.S. Citizens
If you are not a U.S. citizen and residing in the U.S. for more than 3 months, and would like to
compete under the jurisdiction of USA Badminton, you must do the following:
Step 1 - Join USAB as a Member
Step 2 – Request for a change in jurisdiction and obtain a BWF ID if you do not have one. If
you already have a BWF ID, then you have to just request for a change in jurisdiction.

Change of
Jurisdiction to
USAB
Only for Non-U.S. Citizens
In order to change jurisdiction (play under USAB), you must have a BWF ID. If you do not have
one, you need to apply. See the steps above under BWF ID.

Applying
In order to do that, complete the BWF New Player Process & Transfer Form.
Type in ‘CAPITAL” and save in “WORD FORMAT / PDF.”
Email the following to Mohan Subramaniam, at [email protected] and Lauren
LeQuire at [email protected] copy by November 1, 2013:
o Copy of passport (in pdf)
o Copy of passport page with visa (in pdf)
o Copy of “green card” (if available) in pdf
o Copy of passport page with the first date of entry into the USA (in pdf)
o Proof of USA physical address (any document including driver license in pdf – note
address must match the USAB profile address)
Admin Fee
Include a one-time admin fee of $150.00 (pay by credit card). Email the completed Credit
Card Authorization Form and other requested documents to Mohan Subramaniam, at
[email protected] and Lauren LeQuire at [email protected] by
November 1, 2013
Application received later than this date and those without the completed Credit Card
Authorization Form will be considered invalid and USAB will not process the application.
Late and incomplete application will not be considered as this is a time consuming process.
USAB does not guarantee that the application for jurisdiction change can be approved in
time as the decision does not lie solely with USAB. The decision involves the BWF and the
applicant’s previous Member Association.

Doubles &
Mixed
Doubles
U.S. Partnerships
There is no provision for partner request for Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
A player who intends to compete in doubles and mixed doubles must register with a partner
who is a current USAB member with a BWF ID or a Foreign Partner from another country.
International Partnerships
International Partnership (partnering a player from a different country)
International partnerships can occur in the following ways:
A U.S. player may request to partner a foreign player
A foreign player may request to partner a U.S. player
In both cases, THE U.S. PLAYER MUST REGISTER AND PAY FOR THE REQUESTED
EVENT BY THE DEADLINE TUESDAY, December 3, 2013 AT 11:59pm MST WITH NO
EXCEPTIONS

Guideline
Withdrawals:
Withdrawal regulations and penalties will be based on the BWF Regulations.
Withdrawals must be done by email to Lauren LeQuire at
[email protected] and copy Mohan Subramaniam at
[email protected] before Tuesday December 10, 2013, 2013 at 11:59PM BWF
Office time (+08:00h GMT)
Withdrawals after Sunday, December 22, 2013 preceding the draw, for any reason
whatsoever, may render USAB liable for a BWF/BPAC penalty (as defined in BWF General
Competition Regulations).
If there is a penalty for withdrawal, this penalty shall be borne by the withdrawing U.S.
player.
Withdrawals without penalty:
o The BWF/BPAC withdrawal without penalty deadline for this tournament is Sunday

December 22, 2013.
However, the USAB withdrawal without penalty deadline for this tournament is Friday
December 20, 2013 12.00PM MST. After this deadline USAB will not be responsible for
withdrawal without penalty.
o Those with the following reasons – medical, bereavement or family emergency must
provide proof. Only BWF/BPAC can decide if they can accept the reasons.
o If there is a penalty by the BWF, USAB will deduct from the credit card information
provided by the athlete.
Withdrawals after athletes arrive in venue city must be made by notification of withdrawal at
the Team Manager’s Meeting or to the Referee in writing.

Ranking:
2013-2014 Junior Ranking Procedure
Point System by Age and Tournament
Preliminary Junior Ranking Tournament Schedule
Except for the U-19 and U-9 events, the USA Badminton Junior Ranking System will be used
for seeding arrangement. Results of the 2013 U.S. Junior Nationals, the 2013 Pan Am Junior
Championships, past USBDF, other Pan Am and USAB sanctioned tournaments results may
also be used. Adults ranking will not be used for this tournament.
