Creating a DVD Using Roxio MyDVD 10

Creating a DVD Using Roxio MyDVD 10
This tutorial will move you through the step-by-step process of taking existing video,
such as videos taken with camcorders, Flip video cameras or digital still cameras, and
turning them into a DVD that will play on most commercial DVD players. The videos in
question can have a variety of different file extensions, that is, the suffix that follows the
name of the file. Video files from Flip cameras, camcorders and digital still cameras will
tend to be .avi or .mov files. Your new Lenovo computer is equipped with an application
called Roxio MyDVD 10 that will allow you to take these files and convert them to
DVDs.
First go to the Start menu, then All Programs>Roxio Creator Business edition>MyDVD:
After the splash screen, you will see the workspace that looks like this:
We will not be looking at all of the controls, only those that you need to convert a video
file to DVD.
Next we need to locate the file that you will convert. In the upper left-hand corner of the
screen, click on Add a New Movie:
This will open a dialog box which will enable you to locate your file. The file I wish to
convert is in the My Videos folder. Click once on the video, then click on Add:

The video clip now appears in
the large window in your
workspace:
At this point, insert a blank DVD-R or DVD+R in your disk drive and wait a few
seconds. Then, click on the Burn button at the top of the screen:
This will bring up the Burn dialog. Give the disk a name then click on Burn. Make sure
that the Save disc image file and Create folder set boxes remain unchecked.
You will then see a set of progress bars that will fill up as the project nears completion:
You may have to wait a few minutes before both progress bars reach 100%. The “Overall
Progress” bar may seem to stall at 97%; this is normal. When the project is complete, you
will see both bars filled and the disc will automatically eject itself. At this point, it should
play in most commercial DVD players.
You may also want to use Roxio MyDVD
for videos that you create in Windows
Movie Maker or PhotoStory. These
programs create .wmv files and are not able
to burn to DVD. If you have files that were
created with these applications, they can be
converted to DVD using the process
detailed above. Simply Add New Movie,
locate and add the file, and click on Burn.
