Budget and Appropriations News from the Capitol March 7, 2011 Senate to Vote on H.R.1: End Game SƟll Anybody's Guess Senate Democrats will bring H.R.1, the House Republican Con nuing Resolu on, to the Senate floor for a vote this week. This is the CR that passed the House and includes $61.5 billion in cuts from FY 2010 levels. Job training funding was eliminated in this CR. Senate Democrats are bringing H.R.1 to the Senate floor to demonstrate that there is li le support in the Senate for some of the extreme House Republican posi ons. Remember, earlier this year, Senate Majority Leader Reid brought to the Senate floor the recently House passed Health Care repeal. As expected, the Senate overwhelmingly voted NO on the House passed repeal. We expect that Senate Democrats will use this strategy for much of the legisla ve year: Let the full Senate vote, most likely vote NO on House Republican passed legisla on. This increases Senate Democra c leverage with their House Republican counterparts. ACTION ITEM E‐mail and phone your Senators today and tomorrow. Urge them to vote NO on H.R.1, the House Republican FY 2011 Con nuing Resolu on. We don't need a round the clock mobiliza on, but we do need the workforce system to weigh in with all Senators.
