Terraced house, probably of C18 origin with
early-to-mid-C19 front; at one time it was a glass
moulding works, and during the C19 it was a public
house, The Red Lion and French Horn; now offices.
Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof of slate.
Three storeys, three-window range. The ground-floor front
probably dates from the public house phase: wooden
pilasters framing flat-arched entrances with cornices and
overlights to either end, fascia and cornice overall, and
one multi-paned window between the ntrances; first floor
stuccoed with pilasters to three flat-arched windows, the
entablatures now missing; public house sign; second-floor
windows segmental-arched; parapet; two-span roof.
INTERIOR: the ground floor has tongue-and-groove
panelling to full height to front and back rooms, side
passage and staircase as far as first floor; it continues on
the party wall to the second floor. Good iron fireplace and
grate of c.1900 in ground floor back room. Staircase has
plain newels and enclosed balusters as far as first floor,
turned balusters above. First-floor front room has original
panelling to side and back walls, the front rebuilt c.1985
as were ceilings throughout. The second-floor front room
to the left is panelled to dado height and has a plain early
C19 fireplace; early C19 corner fireplace in the back
room.
