ALL ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Mini Me Playschool is a small playgroup in the heart of Rivonia. You will find us
situated in the River Road secure boomed area.
Small playgroups like ours are getting harder to find.
We pride ourselves on keeping our playschool small and intimate. We take 20
children in total in our school. We have 2 small classes, the Barney class and the
Buzz class. We believe it is a beneficial starting point for a young child’s first
experience of school to be a home away from home. Being a small group with a 5:1
child to staff ratio, this enables us to give each child the attention they need when
away from Mom and Dad.
The Barney class is the younger group age 18mths – 2yrs.
The Buzz class is the older group age 2 – 4yrs.
When the children graduate from Mini Me Playschool after their two years with us
they are ready and confident for their BIG schools 000.
Every two weeks we follow a theme such as animals, water, colours, healthy food.
We learn about our theme during ring time. During the two weeks the children
complete a piece of art to take home to Mom and Dad to show off with pride.
Throughout the year we encourage the Moms to dress up their children on special
days like Spring Day or Valentine’s Day. The children show much excitement to this.
So please allow them to join in the fun. (Notice will be given in advance to you to on
such occasions, so don’t worry!).
Children love to play! We have two playgrounds at the school.
The Faraway Tree Playground is for the Buzz group and the Animal Playground for
the Barney group (sometimes altogether).

– Al fresco picnic! Whole-wheat sandwiches,
carrots, cucumber and celery sticks with a
selection of fruit, popcorn and a treat!
FRIDAY
– Chicken hotdogs on whole-wheat rolls
Snacks are given in the morning and seasonal
fruit is given after lunch each day.
SCHOOL HOURS
Our school hours are from Monday to Friday 7h30 – 12h30
We are closed public holidays and the first week of the government school holidays
except for the December holidays where we are closed for the duration of the
holiday.
COLLECTION OF CHILDREN
We do require that you notify the school if your child is going home with anyone
other than you or your usual lift scheme; this is for the security and well-being of
your child.
ILLNESS
We have a strict illness policy. Sick children will not be allowed to attend
school as this affects all the other children at the school and staff.
If your child is ill please do not give them medicine to camouflage symptoms
and send them to school, rather keep them at home until fully recovered.
If your child has an unexplained temperature during the night please do not
send them to school until it has broken for 24 hours after the last
temperature and medication. This also goes for any diarrhoea and vomiting
too.
If your child is taking an antibiotic they may not return to school any
sooner than within 48 hours of taking the first dose and if they are not
contagious.
Working together with this limits the spread of illness and medical costs.
Our staff work full day to disinfect the school when the children go home
ready for the following day.
POTTY TRAINING
We encourage “Potty training” at the parent’s request, this is a joint venture
and should be started when both you and your little one are ready to at home too.
This takes a little patience and encouragement on all sides as children cannot only
be potty trained whilst at school.
We train firstly with pull ups for hygiene reasons at school, but at home they can
wear underwear.
When your child is dry in pull ups at school, underwear may then be worn to school.
Don’t be tempted to keep putting nappies on at the shops etc. This confuses the
little ones and makes training a much harder task with more accidents.
We can only train a certain number of children at a time, therefore check with us
to set a date.
BIRTHDAYS
We celebrate all our children’s birthdays at school; you are always welcome to send
in a cake! Yummy!
You can also leave your camera for us to take pictures of the occasion too!
We do a birthday ring with all their friends to celebrate the day.
DAILY REQUIREMENTS
Everything must be clearly labelled with your child’s
name.
We cannot be held responsible for unlabelled items lost at school.
• Sun block –please apply
at home liberally.
• A change of clothes, we all have accidents!
• Water in leak proof bottles clearly marked with your child’s name.
• A packet of wipes are to be kept in your child’s bag, we take out wipes daily for
nappy changes and for wiping faces and hands after lunch. (Even when potty trained
wipes are used for hands and faces).
• 3 nappies must be put in the bag each day. Two are taken out by us, one for the
morning and one for the afternoon change. If your child needs an extra change the
3rd one will be used. If we do not require 2 changes, only one will be taken out the
following day.
TOYS
We know they love them but NO toys from home are allowed at the
school, unless you would like to donate them!
We have plenty of toys here at the school for your child to play with.
This just causes upsets between their friends and they get broken or lost.
NEWSLETTERS
Newsletters will be issued once a month with news from the school.
REPORTS
Mini-Me report backs will be given at the end of the 2nd and 4th term.

Our school is like a big family. The children feel happy, safe and secure in our
homely environment.
Optional Extra Murals
These are available at the school at an extra cost and are held during free play
time.

These are outside organizations that come into the school. Information about the

SECURITY FEES
We have a full time security guard at the school that controls the gate and the
security of the school.
Security Fee R90 p/m. This will be invoiced with your school fees.
HOLIDAY CAMP (Optional)
Holiday camp is closed the first week of school holidays and opens thereafter. This
is charged at an extra fee of R70 per day on top of the monthly fee.
We have a special holiday programme that runs through the holiday with fun and
different things for the children to do.
NOTICE PERIOD
1 full terms written notice of the intention to remove your child from the school is
required.
You will be liable to pay the full terms fees if this notice is not given.
DEPOSIT
R900.00 is payable on the signing of this application form to hold your position at
Mini Me. (Payable into the deposit account. Details given below).
This breaks down into a R400 admin fee and R500 which will then be deducted off
your first month’s fees.

Fees are subject to an
annual escalation and increases will be affective from 1
January of each year.
Positions are allocated upon the receipt of the deposit and all the documentation
completed and returned to the school. This is on a first come, first served basis.
Mini Me cannot be held responsible for positions being lost if this is not done.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• The following fees are payable:
• A non-refundable registration fee of R900, consisting of a R400 admin fee and
R500 which is payable off the first months fee.
• Monthly fees of R2900 payable by the 1st of each month over 12 months of the
year.
• Monthly fee of R90 for Security.
• Extra mural activities are optional and these fees are payable termly directly
to the applicable activities.
• Fees will increase annually.
• Termination of enrolment:
• The school requires one full terms written notice. The fees for
the notice period are payable whether your child attends school
or not.
• It is my sole responsibility to advise the school in writing of any change of
contact details (i.e. address and telephone numbers).

Please include a copy of your ID and Medical Aid Card.
The enrolment form and the terms and conditions must be completed and signed
with all copies attached before your child can be enrolled.
Positions are allocated on a first come first served basis. Positions will not be
held without the required documentation and proof of payment.
