Labelling
Please label all belongings with your child’s name and class. Lots of children routinely lose their
water bottles, lunch boxes, uniform items etc. and it makes it much easier to locate them if they
are clearly labelled with the owner’s details. We would also ask that parents/carers check that
their child has brought home the correct jumper/cardigan/jacket etc. Your support in this matter
is greatly appreciated by everyone involved.
Pupil Equity Fund
Thank you to everyone who has already returned their consultation slip on how we should use the PEF funding
to raise attainment in Literacy and Numeracy and support Health & Wellbeing. We will finalise our plans this
term and will keep everyone up to date with our progress over the coming months.
Health Week
This will take place during the week beginning Monday 8th of May and will incorporate a
sponsored event and sports day. Further information will be available shortly.
Credit Union Club
Our Credit Union Club, in association with Cambuslang Credit Union, is open every Thursday morning. Please
contact the Cambuslang Credit Union for more details. You can email them at [email protected] or call on 641
0888. The Club is for P1-P7.
Promoting Positive Behaviour
Our reward for pupils who have received less than 3 Behaviour Cards over the course of Term 4
will be a trip to the cinema! More details to follow next month.
Holidays and In-set Days
Park View will be closed on Monday 1st May 2017, Friday 26th May and Monday 29th May as these are public
holidays. School will be closed to pupils on Thursday 4th May 2017 as this is a staff In-service day.
Activity Clubs
A full list of the Activity Clubs offered to pupils is on our website and we update it every term. We are delighted
to let you know that Park View received a Merit Award at the Cambuslang & Rutherglen Sports Council awards in
recognition of the fact that our staff give up their time to deliver so many extra-curricular clubs for the children.
If you have any ideas about other clubs that we could organise, or if you would like to help out at a club, please
contact Mr. McKissock.
Head Lice
In order to prevent the continued spread of head lice, we strongly advise all parents to check their child’s hair
frequently and to visit their local pharmacy to obtain the most appropriate advice and products. Many of these
products are free of charge. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated by all concerned. Dawn Louden, our School
Nurse, is also available to provide support in this or any other health related matter.
Parent Partnership
All parents/carers are welcome to attend the Parent Partnership meetings. The next meeting
is on Thursday 11th May 2017 at 7pm. If you would like to contact the Parent Partnership, the
email address is [email protected]
Car Parking/ Road Safety
In the interests of pupil safety, the car park is closed at entry
and dismissal times. Only staff and drivers with a disability
badge are able to use the car park during these busy periods.
We would also ask that parents/carers park safely in the
surrounding streets and adhere to the advised 20 mph speed
restriction. Local residents have requested that
parents/carers do not block access to driveways.
There have been numerous complaints about cars and taxis
parking/stopping on the yellow zig-zag lines at the school
gates. The zig-zag road markings are there to help to keep
our children safe. PLEASE DO NOT PARK OR STOP VEHICLES
ON THE YELLOW ZIG-ZAG LINES.
Primary 1 Inductions
Our transition programme for new P1 children will take place this term. The
Induction Afternoons are Monday 12th June 2017 at 1:30pm and Monday 19th
June 2017 at 1:30pm. Parents/carers and the new P1s can come along to both
sessions.
Trim Trail
We are delighted to announce that Park View has now been awarded
£10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help us to build a brand new trim trail
and outdoor classroom. Thanks to their fundraising efforts and the
financial support of our Parent Forum, the Parent Partnership will
contribute the additional £5000 required to pay for the project. Thank you
to everyone who has worked so hard and contributed so much to help us to
achieve this. It is hoped that installation work will start in this term.
Finally...
Please remember that if you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing or progress, you can contact the
school and make an appointment to speak to a member of staff.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. M. Speirs
