HOT LUNCH: Thanks to those that served hot
lunch this past week! Our menu for next week will
include chicken nuggets, tater tots, carrot sticks,
celery with peanut butter, and cupcakes. Our
workers are scheduled to be Luetzow, Miller, and
Neumann.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: The Sunday school lesson
for Sunday, April 27th, will be “Pentecost.” The
snack will be provided by Rouech. There will be
no Sunday school this Sunday, April 20th, due to
other Easter Sunday activities.
EASTER/BREAKFAST: This Sunday is Easter
Sunday and our church will celebrate with a
special service at 10:00 AM. Please plan to attend
with your family. Before the service, everyone is
invited to a special Easter breakfast beginning at
8:30 AM.
CHAPEL: During the fourth quarter of the
school year our chapel offerings will support the
Pregnancy Counseling Center in Saginaw. The
collection this past Wednesday amounted to
$41.40. Our total for the quarter is $111.94.
PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT: There were
several new enrollments this past week. The three
year old program is now full and there is one on
the waiting list. The four year old program is
about half full. We are currently working with
several prospects.
If you know of anyone
interested, please encourage them to act quickly.
SCHOOL PLAYS: The children of our school
will put on two plays on Friday, April 25th. “The
Little Engine That Could Sing” will be
performed by the Kindergarten and Preschool.
Children in grades 1-8 will perform “At the
Bandstand.” Please plan on attending, you get
two for one! There will be a free will offering
taken. Money collected will be used to offset
costs to produce the plays. After play costs are
covered, remaining funds from the offering will be
used to help cover the cost of the installation of
our new soccer field. The CEA is funding a major
portion of the costs of the soccer field and is in
need of additional funds so that it can support
those projects to which it has made commitments.
Please give generously!
VOLLEYBALL: The volleyball season ended
last Friday with the games played at Tawas.
Thanks to our players for representing our school
and thanks to Ms. Neveau for serving as our
coach. All team members are reminded to clean
their uniforms and return them to school on
Monday.
MIDTERMS: The final mid-term of the year will
be sent home on Monday, April 28th. If you have
any questions or concerns, please contact your
child’s teacher.
TRACK MEETS: The first of two track meets is
only one month away. Students are encouraged to
start conditioning at home so that they are ready to
compete. The first meet is for students in grades
one through eight. The date is Friday, May 23rd.

CLASSROOM NEWS:
They studied the number 18, the letter N, and the
color blue. The three year olds continued their
theme on baby animals. The letter was S, the
color white, the number 8, and the oval. Some
upcoming activities which you may want to mark
on your calendars: April 28: Hearing and Vision
screening will take place at Bethel for those
entering Kindergarten; May 12: end of the year
field trip to Saginaw Children’s Museum (four
year olds); May 13: end of the year field trip to
Saginaw Children’s Zoo (three year olds); May 20
& 21: preschool farewell - three and four year
olds respectively. Watch for more information for
each of these upcoming events. There has been an
increase in inquiries for the preschool program for
next fall. If you have not enrolled your child or
know of someone who is interested in enrolling,
do not delay, classes are filling and waiting lists
are beginning to form. At this time the three year
old class is filled and a waiting list is starting. If
you have any questions see Mrs. Virant.
Kindergarten: This week for Word of God we
learned how Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal
with the help of God. We also learned about
wicked King Ahab and how God punished him for
his sins. We have also been busy working on
letter book J. The children only have three more
letters to learn. In math the children have finished
their chapter on measurement. Our next chapter
introduces money. Time to get out those piggy
banks to practice! We have also been busy
learning our parts for the play and practicing our
songs to sing in church. Show and Tell for next
week is things that begin with the letter J.
Memory Work for this week:

Tuesday, April 22 - none
Wednesday, April 23 - #51 Ps 23:6
Thursday, April 24 – 2nd Article “on the

Preschool: The excitement is building in the
classroom as the children continue to practice their
songs for the play next Friday, April 25th. Please
continue to review the words with your child. The
play will begin at 6:30 pm. In addition to the play
the children will be singing in church next
Sunday, April 27th. They have been working
very hard on their song for the last few months.
The special song is going to tell about the events
of Jesus’ passion, resurrection, and ascension.
Come and find out what is in the 12 Eggs of
Easter. This week the Bible lesson was Doubting
Thomas. The children learned Jesus let Thomas
see and touch him. The memory treasure for the
Grades 1-2: Our Bible History lessons this week

chapter 13 was done on Monday, and the first
lesson of chapter 14 was done on Tuesday. After
some deliberation, I have decided to skip chapter
13 for now. Time restricts us from finishing the
entire book, and I believe there are some chapters
more important than others. We will go back to
chapter 13 at the end of the year if time permits. If
you have any questions about this, please stop in
and see me. Both 1st and 2nd grade had a review
unit in reading. We finished our first science unit
on matter. Most afternoon classes have been
suspended as we spend our afternoons in the gym
working on the play. However, we were able to
have art, in which the students made Easter
lanterns, which are now hanging in the classroom.
Have a very Happy Easter!!!
Memory Work:
Tuesday, –#188 (3rd article)
Wednesday – Hymn #152 v. 1 everyone, v.2 2nd
grade (I Know that My Redeemer Lives)
Friday – #189 (John 14:19)
Grades 3-5: We are only a week away from
midterms! That’s right; we are almost half way
through the fourth quarter. We have many things
that we are working on. Please make sure that
your child is working on their book report which
will be due on May 22nd. Please make sure that
you have those in on time. I have also let the fifth
graders know that we will be reciting the books of
the Bible in the next couple of weeks, depending
on when we can find the time. I have many slips
out still for the Loons game. That deadline is
coming up on April 25th. We are in need of some
paper plates; so please send in some of those if
you know your child is one that uses plates to heat
their lunch. I hope that everyone has a very
Blessed Easter and enjoys their Friday afternoon
and Monday breaks.

Upcoming Trips:
Loons – May 14th
Kokomos – May 27th
Grades 6-8: It has been very difficult to keep
things flowing. There have been many play
practices in the last few weeks, with three more
next week. Accordingly, it has been a challenge
to keep on track. Thanks to Nicole Willette for
taking my eighth graders to Career Day at Delta
College this past week. On May 1st the eighth
grade will go to Career Day at the Bay Arenac
ISD. There are many students in my room that
have not brought in permission slips for their class
trip and/or the Loons Game. Please remember
these permission slips on Tuesday morning. The
eighth grade is heading into the home stretch for
catechism class. They will be examined on
Thursday, May 1st, and confirmed on Sunday,
May 4th. These are two very important days in
their lives. I hope the entire student body plans to
attend and show their support. Several students in
my room still need to turn in their volleyball
uniforms. There will likely be a social studies test
late next week. There will be English tests next
week as well.
