What's New in this Release?
Product Name Change
Paradata SaaS is now BOM Advantage 2.0, which is the first solution of the Paradata Solution Suite.
BOM Advantage provides transparency in your supply chain. Upload your product bill of materials and within
minutes have a health assessment of your product. There c an be hundreds of parts in your product. BOM
Advantage points you to the few critical parts at risk - nearing end-of life, out of compliance, poor availability, long
lead time. Import your private partner prices (from your EMS or ODM) to quickly compare pu blicly available list
prices to your private partner prices and determine the potential best cost for your product.
Private Price Repository
Paradata now stores all your company’s private prices in a private price repository. Each file creates a “price set”,
having its own provenance (see Price Sets, below). You can compare multiple price sets from different
manufacturing partners in a single project and also leverage the prices across projects.
Prices imported to different projects, can be leveraged across other projects. In the example below, BOM
Advantage allows for prices imported to Projects A and B to be used in Project C. Without importing prices to
Project C, the user can configure the project’s Cost Comparison widget to compare prices from Partner 1 and
Partner 2 previously imported to Project A and Project B, respectively.
Price Sets
Paradata supports uploading Partner Quotes at either the item or manufacturer part level. Support for additional
price types (Supplier Quotes, Standard Costs and Contract Prices) is coming soon. Each price has a provenance
which includes:

Share Prices Across Projects
Private prices may now be leveraged across projects. Given two similar projects with the same volume, Partner 1
and Partner 2’s prices can be compared against each other in either project. When project volumes differ, only
projects with a volume greater than or equal to the quote volume may use the quote’s prices.
The partner prices can be leveraged in another project when they are at or below the volume quantity. If Project A
is for 5000 and Project B is for 8000, you can compare Partner 1 to Partner 2 prices in Project B. However, you
can’t do the same in Project A, because the Partner 2 prices exceed the 5000 volume quantity in Project A.
Model Costs
Paradata calculates a model price for the items in your projects to be used as price fillers. In the event that the
sources being compared don’t have prices for all the same items, the overall total unit cost uses price fillers to
show a representative total so the comparison is based on the same number of items.
Cost Comparison Widget on Project Overview
In BOM Advantage, you can compare partner quotes side-by-side to see the best cost for your product. You can
compare prices imported to this project, or prices for the same items imported into other projects.
Click View Items to go to the Materials tab with the items sorted by the Delta column in descending order. You can
click on portions of the bar to go to the Materials tab with that column sorted:
 Blue area groups the items with the best prices in descending order
 Gray area groups the items with the not best prices in descending order
For any new project, the Cost Comparison automatically compares Public and Model prices, determining the Best
price. As you import prices to this project, they are automatically included in the comparison.

Configure Cost Comparison
By default, when you first upload the project, the Cost Comparison widget will compare Public to Model prices.
When you import partner prices to this project, the partner is automatically added to the comparison and that
partner is set as the base. You can configure the Cost Comparison widget to also compare prices from other
partners imported to other projects.
Click the gear button to configure the Cost Comparison widget.
This dialog lists the partners whose prices were imported to this project and to other projects. You can configure
for comparison prices from partners imported to other similar projects.
Model prices are used as price fillers for items where one partner has provided a price and another has not so that
the totals are always based on the same set of items.
Step 1: Select which partners or other sources to compare.
Step 2: Set the Comparison Base, which is the source to compare to Best to calculate Delta and Variance.
Step 3: Click Save.
Import Prices
In BOM Advantage, you can import partner quotes at the item or manufacturer part level. Click Import New Prices
in the Cost Comparison widget on the project overview, and follow the steps below:
Step 1: Choose the price type, and specify whether the prices are for items or manufacturer parts. The defaults are
Partner and Items.

Step 2: Set the Price Set information. Enter the partner, choose the price file, name the price set, and optionally
set the date.
For partner prices at the item level, the price file only needs the item number, and the price. For the data needed
for other combinations of price type and level, see the table below.
For the Partner, you can use the specific EMS name or mask the names by using generic names. It’s important to
use the same name for the same partner as you import prices across projects. For example, you don’t want to use
"Partner 1" sometimes and "Ptnr 1" other times, because you won’t be able to c onsolidate those into a single
column.
Step 3: Map the Paradata field names to the column headings of the price file, and then click Import.

You can import additional pricing from partners or suppliers by clicking the Import New Prices button in the Cost
Comparison widget.
Materials View with Cost Comparison Columns
On the Materials view, you can see a flat list of the items in the BOM. You can sort, filter, or search. You can also
choose how to view the price data - unit, line, or extended prices.
Each column total is based on prices for the same items. The icon next to the total tells you if price fillers were
used.
The cell background highlighting tells where the best prices came from and which prices are fillers. The dashed
outlines tells which comparison source is the base on which delta and variance are calculated.

Display Unit, Line, or Extended Prices
Within the column chooser menu, in addition to being able to hide/show data columns, you can choose to display
unit, line, or extended pri ces. The column total for the comparison columns and the Best Price column will show
the total to build a single product for Unit and Line, and it will show the extended total when displaying Extended
prices. The data cells in the Materials table will show:



Unit - the price for one item
Line - the price for the quantity needed to build one product (Unit * Quantity)
Extended - the price to build the volume specified for the project (Unit * Quantity * Assembly Volume)
Sorting
Click a column header to sort by that column's data. Click the same column header again to sort in the opposite
direction.
When you sort by a comparison column, the primary sort is to group by the items where that source has the best
prices and the prices are listed in descending order. I f you click the same column header again, the system will
group the items that do not have the best prices, with the prices listed in descending order.

New Way to View the Item Details
Replaced the way we show the item's AML and off AML part equivalents, to provide greater detail on lifecycle,
compliance and lead time as well as more pricing information.
Price SAQ
We now display the price SAQ with these shield icons.
You can click the icon to see the price provenance details.

Price Provenance Details
Both public and private prices have a price provenance (what, when, who, etc of the price data).
Private prices
When you click the private price icon, you can see the provenance details.

Better Representation of Costs on Project Overview
In the Overview Summary, the Unit Cost is based on the total best cost, which is a combination of your private
prices and public prices.
The Cost Breakdown widget still does a Pareto analysis of the Class A, B, and C parts, but is now based on the best
prices, not just public prices.
Entirely new Cost Comparison widget that replaces the previous Price Comparison widget that only compared a
single set of private prices to public prices. See Cost Comparison widget in the Project Overview section above for
details.
The Prescribed Part Equivalents widget now only counts lower -priced part equivalents when the price is lower than
the best price.
Custom Items Rule
There's a new way to identify custom items. When the rule is checked, the system automatically sets items as
Custom where the Manufacturer Part Number equals the Item Number. The new rule is available in the Company
Settings page and can only be set by an Account Owner. This will apply to projects uploaded after the checkbox is
checked.
