FRIDAY Announcements GSW High School February 13, 2015 STUDENTS: REMINDER = NO SCHOOL on Monday, Feb. 16th Congrats to Devin Fisher – receiving 4th place in her Solo Dance Competition on Saturday, Feb. 7th. The Varsity Panthers will have the special opportunity to play on a college floor this Saturday, Feb. 14th at Olivet Nazarene University. The opponent is RVC rival Tri-Point and tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Admission is $6 which will cover both the GSW vs. Tri-Point game as well as the Olivet game which follows immediately after we play. We hope our ORANGE CRUSH section travels to Bourbonnais and that we have a great representation of fans at this event. For any more details, please see Coach Gibson. The GSW Business Club will be sponsoring their 2nd blood drive of the year on Wednesday, February 18 from 2:00-6:30 PM. If you are interested in donating, please contact a business club member or Coach Gibson to reserve your time slot. We had an EXCELLENT 1st drive and are looking to improve upon that with this one. We appreciate your support!! The 1st Annual Teen Prom Expo will be held at the Grundy County Administrative Center in Morris on Saturday, February 21st from 9 am – noon. This event is for guys and girls. Registration for prizes will begin at 9 am. There will be a safe dating presentation from 9:30 10:30 then the shopping begins along with hair and make-up tips. The drawing for prizes will begin at 11:30 and winners must be present. Stop by the guidance office to pick up a flyer. The next Mobile Food Truck is coming to South Wilmington on Monday, February 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Catholic Church Parking Lot. Indoor winter Carnival on Thurs, Feb. 26 at Gardner Grade School and they need volunteers. Sign-up in the office if you would like to help and we will get the information to the Grade School. If you would like to take the JJC COMPASS Test at GSW on Thursday, March 19th you will need to complete a JJC application online AND sign up with Ms. Kilmer in the guidance office by Monday, March 9th. The COMPASS test is required for all JJC college freshman and any student planning to take English 101/102 as a high school senior. Townships of Illinois is awarding a $1,500 scholarship. You must plan on attending college in Illinois. Deadline is March 1, 2015. See guidance for more info. Just a reminder: Lions Club Breakfast is seeking students needing community service hours. Students if you are interested in learning more about Nuclear Programs offered through State Tech College in Missouri (formerly Linn State) sign up in the guidance office ASAP. Completing this program could lead to a position at one of the local nuclear power plants. Students - If you plan to play a sport at the college level make sure you meet with Ms. Kilmer to discuss the NCAA Clearinghouse. Student athletes at a Division I, II, or III institute must meet rigorous academic requirements. Together we can review the courses you have taken and those you plan to take to make sure you meet the necessary criteria. If you plan to go to JJC before transferring to a 4 year college and you want to make sure that your taking the classes that will transfer correctly you can attend a Transfer Success Info Session.
