Getting there and getting around
Transport from the airport
Vienna International Airport (German: Flughafen Wien-Schwechat) is located 18
kilometres southeast of central Vienna
(http://www.viennaairport.com/en/passengers).
The city can be reached from the airport with the City Airport Train (CAT) that
runs non-stop from the airport to Wien Mitte – Landstraße in 16 minutes.
One-way tickets are 12 Euros. Return tickets start at 19 Euros.
Another possibility is the intercity railway (IC/Railjet) which takes you to
Vienna Central Station in about 10 minutes. One-way tickets are Euro 4.40.
Underground
The Vienna U-Bahn consists of five lines (U1, U2, U3, U4, U6) of approximately
80 kilometres of route, serving 104 stations. More than 1.3 million passengers
ride the Vienna U-Bahn every day. One-way tickets are Euro 2.20. (For a better

How to reach the conference venues
The conference venues are located in walking distance of two stations. The
underground line U3 (Herrengasse) and U2 (Schottentor).
If your hotel is located near U3 Herrengasse:
Going by CAT or S-Bahn: Take the exit at Wien Mitte – Landstraße: Change to
the U3 direction Ottakring. Exit at Herrengasse.
Going by intercity railway: Take the exit at Vienna Central Station and change to
U1 direction Leopoldau. At Stephansplatz change to the U3 direction Ottakring.
Exit at Herrengasse.
If your hotel is located near U2 Schottentor:
Going by CAT: Take the exit at Wien Mitte – Landstraße: Change to the U4
direction Heiligenstadt. Change at Schottenring to the U2 direction Karlsplatz.
Exit at Schottenring.
Going by S-Bahn: Take the exit at Praterstern. Change to the U2 direction
Karlsplatz. Exit at Schottentor.
Going by intercity railway: Take the exit at Vienna Central Station and change to
U1 direction Leopoldau. At Karlsplatz change to the U2. Exit at Schottentor.
Tickets
Vienna transportation tickets are valid for one journey travelling in one direction
without breaks and cost Euro 2.20. They can be used on the U-Bahn, trams and
busses and can be bought at ticket machines, on the bus/tram or in
newspaper/tabacco shops called “Trafik”.
24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour tickets must be validated before the first journey
and cost Euro 7.60, 13.30 and 16.50 respectively. They can be bought at ticket
machines.
Taxis
Taxis from the airport can be very costly depending on traffic. There is a
company offering airport transport to and from the airport at the fixed rate of
Euro 33 one way. They must be booked in advance.
