“Delightful”

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Delight is something we all look for often. Yet many of the things we assume will give us delight
come up short. Psalm 1 tells us about an unexpected delight that comes from the Word of God.
Hearing and reading God’s Word may not seem to be at the top of your list of “most exciting
things to do with my free time”. Yet the delight is guaranteed. It’s delightful to hear God is
listening to your prayers. Delightful to hear all your smallest and greatest sins are forgiven.
Delightful to hear how the Holy Spirit strengthens your faith and increases good works in you.
It’s also a blessing. That’s a guaranteed
promise from God. The more you surround
yourself with His Word, the more you
will be blessed. Open your Bible. Do
your devotions. Go to Church. Go
to Bible Study. Read Bible stories to
your kids and grandkids.
Surrounding yourself with God’s
is a delight. How delightful is it when that Spring
sunshine starts to surround us? What about when
you take a hike down at Evergreen Lake or sit in your
fishing boat and you’re surrounded by God’s creation?
How much delight do you have when you’re surrounded by your family and good
Word
friends? How much delight when surrounded by green grass on a golf course? What about surrounded by flowers
and plants in your garden? Pretty delightful, right?
It’s just as delightful to surround yourself with the Word of God. In fact, Psalm 1 says you’re like a strong,
oak tree on the banks of a river. Those trees are full of delight, aren’t they? Plenty of water. Plenty of
sunshine. Life is good.
So it is for Christians who surround themselves with God’s Word. You sink your roots deep down into the
Scriptures. Reading, meditating, memorizing, praying. You drink from those rivers of living water. You
are refreshed and fed from the Word of God in the Lord’s Supper. You stand firm against all winds and
storms and droughts because you are anchored in the Word of God, in Jesus Christ, in the forgiveness of
your sins, and in eternal life.
Surround yourself with the Lord and His Word. Be delightful. Be a strong tree by a stream of water. Be
blessed.

APRIL 2016 UPDATE
March was a busy month
for the preschool. We
had class pictures taken
at Heirloom
Photography. The
highlight of the month
was Grandparents'
Day. Together, we ate a delicious brunch, sang songs,
searched for missing Easter eggs, and shared the Easter
story with creating a set of Resurrection Eggs. What a
wonderful day with grandparents where the Gospel was
shared to old and young alike!
In the upcoming month, we will be discovering seeds and
plants and we will be learning the rest of the alphabet.
Most importantly, we will be learning about the great
wonders of Jesus after he resurrected to save us from our
sins!

Quarterly Voters’ Meeting
Wednesday, April 20th
7:00pm
All members of Trinity 18 years or older are welcome
to become voting members of our congregation. All
you need to do is come to the meeting and we will have
you sign the membership book and receive a copy of
the constitution and by-laws. It’s very simple and we
would love to have you at our next meeting to help with
the important business of the Lord’s Church.
