B. Vietnam - ruled by China 111 BC to 939AD
C. Chinese rule overthrown in 939AD, ruled by different Emperors and
families - Trinh in the north, Nguyen in central Vietnam
Human Fabric and Languages
A. Mixture of non Chinese, Mongolian, Austro-Indonesian languages
developed by Alexandre DeRhodes
B. Tribal groups - Mongolian (about 2 million), Tai tribes
(1,000,000 people), Montagnards (outside Vietnam culture),
Chams (40,000 people eliminated), Khmers (500,000 - very few
left, mainly in Cambodia), Chinese (past 1,000,000 in Vietnam),
past history fear of China still exists today
