Navigating Microsoft Word 2013 Templates and Opening Documents When opening Word 2013, the Template page will appear. This is where you can open a recent document, a template, or click Open Other Documents. New Read Mode Word 2013 attachments open in the Read-Only Reading Mode. You will need to click View, then click Edit Document. Backstage View When you click the File tab to open, save, or print, the screen will change to the Backstage view. To get back to your document, click the arrow in the upper left corner. Opening and Editing PDFs You can open and edit PDF files Word 2013. To use, open the PDF file as you would a Word File. To choose what to view, click the REVIEW tab, then from the Tracking group, click the arrow from the drop down menu for: Simple Markup: Where the edits are hidden and red line in the left margin indicates edit location.
