CALL FOR CULINARY ARTS
DESCRIPTION
The Funka Fest Organization invites to the second edition of the Funka Fest Arts Festival, which
will be held in the city of Guayaquil - Ecuador, on October 27 and 28, 2017.
The Call for Culinary Arts aims to ennoble and support the talent of independent chefs, providing a
highly commercial space to display and sell their culinary delights.
The Call for Culinary Arts is intended to highlight the current trend towards the interdisciplinarity in
the art field, articulating diverse proposals around one main theme. The axis of reflection and
creation for the Funka Fest second edition is “Points of Convergence”. Therefore, in order to
participate applicants must create a special dish that relates to some of the interpretations or
reflections on this main theme.
The Call for Culinary Arts will remain open until June 30, 2017. Stands are limited and the
selection process will take place as submissions arrive.
ABOUT THE MAIN THEME “POINTS OF CONVERGENCE”
The main theme sets the criteria on the selection process and guides the applicants on
drafting the culinary proposal to be submitted. Through the Call for Culinary Arts it is
intended that applicants approach any kind of convergence. The following are some of
the synonyms of the term “convergence”:
1. Unity
2. Coincidence
3. Similarity
4. Fusion

ABOUT GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
·All nationals and foreigners food establishments constituted in Ecuador, may participate.
· Food establishments will be chosen as long as they are consistent with the main theme of the
Funka Fest second edition.
· The cost of participation per establishment is USD $500 plus taxes for the two-day festival.
Participation in shared stands or during individual days, will not be allowed.
· The cost of participation ​​includes 4x4 meters tent, equipped with light and energy spots. The
use gas equipments will not be allowed.
· Food establishments will be able to decorate their stands as they wish.
ABOUT REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
In order to register for the call for Culinary Arts, all applicants must send the following documents to
the email: [email protected]
1. Registration form filled out on computer.
2. Brief explanation about the relationship between the special dish and the main theme of the
Funka Fest second edition.
3. At least four (4) photographs of the products to be commercialized in .JPG or .TIFF format at 300dpi.
4. The brand logotype in its editable file (illustrator).
5. Owner´s RUC and ID.
ABOUT SELECTED EXHIBITORS
· Selected establishments must pay the 50% of the cost of participation in a maximum period of
seven (7) working days. The remaining balance must be paid in a period of thirty (30) additional
days.
*Note that the space will not be booked until payment is done.
ABOUT GENERAL DISPOSITIONS
· All selected establishments commit to comply with the times and schedules established for
assembly and the event. In case of default on those schedules, the Funka Fest Organization
reserves it right to refuse their participation.
· A maximum of three (3) persons per establishment will be allowed. Exhibitors who require a
bigger staff must assume the entry costs.
· All selected establishments undertake to comply with the payment within the established dates.
If payment is not received by the deadline, the space will be transferred to another establishment.
· All selected establishments authorize the use of their names and brand logotypes for print and
digital advertisement related to the Funka Fest 2017 edition.
· The Funka Fest Organization will provide the necessary in terms of logistics and security during
the event, however, it shall not be liable for loss, damage or theft.
· All selected establishments authorize the Funka Fest Organization, so that the material
presented at the event can be recorded for the development and dissemination of the Funka
Fest collective memory.
· The Funka Fest Organization reserves it right to record, photograph and broadcast images and
videos of the proposals through the media.
· All selected establishments, by participating, accept each and every one of the conditions and
rules, and waive any judicial, administrative, arbitrary or extrajudicial action against the organizers,
the committee and any natural or legal person, directly or indirectly related to the planning and
execution of the Funka Fest 2017 edition.
