SEPARATING MIXTURES: LIQUIDS
To separate two liquids mixed together there are several methods, including:

distillation: heat the liquids until the one with the lower boiling point is given off, and
using a condenser, collect the vapour using the apparatus shown below:

Chromatography: Different liquids will be more soluble in certain solvents and will
travel along a solvent front at different speeds. This can be used to collect different
compounds from difficult to separate mixtures. A simple example of this is shown in
the diagram below:
