THUMBPRINT #85
Hi everyone!
The April holidays are here again - and so especially
for those of you not travelling far from home – the library
is offering a whole heap of FREE silliness, antics and fun!
(artwork by Henry Bampton)
Come and make some wicked Easter crafts, be part of a children’s book launch, or
join in for a spectacular clown performance. Or if you’re between 8-14 years - you
could learn a stack of new circus skills and tricks, in two specialist workshops being
run by Adelaide’s very own ‘Circidz’.
Also - for all you budding authors out there – why not join one of our popular Young
Writer’s Groups which run throughout the year. (We have one group for 12-15 year
olds, and a second group for 16-25s). Check out our library website youth page for
dates and more details. Or if you are a bit of a ‘gamer’ – of any age – don’t forget
to check out our NEW Unley Libraries Wii Game collection in the coming weeks.
There’ll be stacks of exciting titles – (and of course the great thing is they are
FREE for you to borrow!) So get in early and reserve your favourite games. If we
don’t have a particular game in stock - let us know so we can then look into getting
it for the library so then you can borrow it!
And last but not least - we haven’t forgotten the wonderful (and growing) population
of small babies living in the area! If you look in the school holiday program we are
offering a special holiday Babytime session at Goodwood Library for 0-2 year olds.
No need to book for these sessions – you can just turn up!
Have fun everyone! We hope you enjoy being at the Unley Libraries these holidays!

325g unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (220g) caster sugar
1 1/2 cups (225g) self-raising flour, sifted
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup (125ml) milk
3 cups (450g) icing sugar, sifted
Food colouring of your choice
12 coloured chocolate Easter eggs, to garnish
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 190°C. Line a 12-hole, 1/3-cup (80ml) muffin pan with paper cases.
2. Place 225g butter in a food processor with the caster sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla extract
and 1/4 cup (60ml) milk. Process until the mixture is smooth, then divide among the
muffin cases. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and golden.
3. Meanwhile, to make the icing, place the icing sugar, remaining 100g of butter and
remaining 1/4 cup milk in the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat on medium-high speed for
about 5 minutes or until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add a few drops of food colouring
of your choice and beat to combine.
4. Remove the cupcakes from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then transfer to a wire rack
to cool completely. When cakes are cool, scoop the icing into a piping bag with a star
nozzle, then use to ice cakes. Garnish each one with an Easter egg, then serve.
