The Easy Fridge/Freezer Alarm Monitors a Refrigerator and a Freezer Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Side of the Alarm This is the screen you will normally see when the alarm is in operation Data Display The main or chart display screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The chart display is automatically drawn as data from the sensors is stored in RAM memory. The Display Screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The current conditions are always visible and are updated every few seconds Sensor 1 current temperature Sensor 2 current temperature Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The chart also shows the temperature history of one of the sensors The 1 in the upper right corner indicates that this chart is for sensor #1. In this case the refrigerator sensor Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The current date and time is displayed here in the lower right corner of the display Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The alarm has a 40 hour backup battery which continues to operate the alarm during a power failure This icon indicates how much charge the battery has left Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The battery should be changed at least once a year Or if this icon shows the battery is only ½ charge Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The alarm will store 1.5 years of temperature history for each of the two sensors if temperature is stored once every 10 minutes. The dates along the top refer of the chart refer to the stored and displayed data. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The display can show several hours, several days or even more than a year of the temperature history This is the temperature history line for the #1 sensor Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The temperature scale is always on the left side of the chart. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 If you are viewing the refrigerator chart and want to see the freezer chart push the escape key (ESC) The display flips back and forth between the two sensors each time you press the ESC key. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 After pressing the ESC key the display shows the temperature history for sensor #2, in this case the freezer. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 If we push the ESC key again we go flip back to the Refrigerator chart. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This chart will show about 30 hours of temperature history if you sample temperature once every 10 minutes. The main or chart display screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 How do we look at more than 30 hours of temperature history? The main or chart display screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Push the Zoom-out key to double the amount of data displayed. (Push it once and the chart will show 4 days, again and it will show 8 days, once more and you will see 16 days, etc…) Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Now we are looking at 60 hours of data. Push it again and you will see 120 hours (5 days) of data on the chart. We have zoomed out to show twice as much data. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Let’s look at the end with all of the connections. Side of the Alarm Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The power from the wall transformer plugs into this socket Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This is an external relay to trigger an Auto Dialer or external alarm If you use the optional Auto Dialer up to 4 people will get a phone call if the ThermaViewer goes into alarm mode. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Sensor #1, usually the refrigerator, plugs in here Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Sensor #2, usually the Freezer, goes here. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This is the serial port so that the stored data can be downloaded to a computer Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This is a contrast control so the display can be adjusted for the light conditions. Turn it left or right with a small screw driver to lighten or darken the display Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 And lastly there is a reset button. Pressing the reset button causes the display to reset, without erasing your stored data, if you have a good battery installed. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 That about covers the physical characteristics of the alarm Additional information can be found in the users guide, which can be downloaded from our web site. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Now let’s talk about the Menu system. The Menu system is where you can change settings, such as; the sample rate, the display parameters, the high or low alarm points for the sensor, etc... Normally you will set these variables once when you first boot up the system and not ever have to reset them. However you can change them at any time. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 To enter the menu system press the enter key (ENT) Pressing the enter key once will call up the main menu. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This is the main menu. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Here we can go to the system setup menu The system setup menu is where we set the date and time. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 We can also enter the sensor setup menus from this main menu. There is a sensor setup menu for each sensor. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 This is the sensor setup menu where we could change the chart display parameters. These setting are for the chart display only, not the alarm. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Or you can go into the alarm menu to change the high-low alarm settings. Each sensor has its own high and low alarm settings Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 The alarms are set by specifying a temperature and a delay time. In this example the alarm will go off if the temperature is above 5.5°F for more than 30 minutes or if the temperature is less than 1.5°F for more than 45 minutes. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Setting a delay time avoids false alarms caused by momentary rises in temperature from opening the fridge door. When an alarm occurs an internal buzzer goes off, the screen blinks and the relay closes so the optional auto dialer calls up to four difference people. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Alarm settings can be changed at any time If you are using a sensor for both temperature and humidity you can set high-low points for both conditions. Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Lastly, here is the calibration menu. Each sensor can have one, two or three calibration points. Any offset entered here will affect the temperature collected, stored and displayed Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 To exit from this or any other menu press the ESC button until you arrive back at the main display screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Which sooner or later takes you back to here The main or chart display screen Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042 Please see the ‘Care and Use’ guide for more detailed information on the Fridge-Freezer Alarm The ‘Care and Use’ guide can be downloaded as a PDF from our website: www.e2di.com Two Dimensional Instruments, LLC (502) 243-0042
