Learning Through Play
Manning Regional Child Care Association
The Manning Regional Child Care Association believes that high quality early
childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment that promotes
the physical, social and emotional development of young children while
responding to the needs of families. The MRCCA operates as a non profit organization. A Board of Directors is made up of parent representatives, and community members. Sunshine playschool has a minimum of
two parent representatives on the Board. If you are interested in a position please let us know.
The family is one of natures’
great masterpieces.
It is through play that much of your child’s early learning takes place. The physical, socio-emotional and intellectual development of children is dependent upon
this activity. Therefore, opportunity for play is a key component of the Sunshine
Playschool program. Our program builds on rather than detracts from, this natural approach to learning. Through touching, manipulating, exploring and testing,
children find out about the world around them. Through interacting with other
children and adults, they find out about themselves and their relationships to others. Through play, children imitate adults and experiment with what it means to
be a caregiver, a farmer, a parent and so on. Through play, they learn how to
solve problems and work cooperatively with others.
Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning…….they have to
play with what they know to be true in order to find out more.

Sunshine Playschool’s approach is to help children develop the principles, attitudes

Please ensure your child is dressed for outside play, this includes
winter weather. Soft soled shoes are needed for inside, these can be left at school.
Shoes are needed in the event we would have to evacuate the building.
Nutrition
Snack time is a regular part of the day. Please send a nutritious snack, which includes
at least two food groups, with your child each day. If there is a concern for food
allergies please notify the teacher.
Health
If your child is not feeling well, please keep them at home. Communicable diseases
can spread very quickly in groups of children. Please advise the teacher of any
medical condition or allergies your child may have. No medication will be
administered at playschool.
Emergency Procedures
There is an emergency and evacuation plan posted in the room please become familiar
with it. If the building has to be evacuated you will be notified as to where to pick up
your child. Back up locations are Manning Elementary School main building,
followed by Rosary School then Legion Hall if necessary.
A busy time…...please assist your child with settling in. Each child will be given a locker to
keep their coats, boots. It is recommended that personal toys and possessions be left at home.
Please ensure all you child’s items are clearly labelled.
Notes…….things I need to remember
Please let the teacher know when your child is arriving or leaving the program. If someone else
is picking up your child the teacher must be made aware of this. Remember sign your child in
and out as this is critical in case of an emergency.
The room will be open 10 minutes before class for drop off . Please pick your child up no later
then 5 minutes after the end of class. It is important that these times are
maintained as the teacher needs this time for preparation.
