DCV Open Seniors Tournament – 21st to 22nd May
The DCV Open Seniors Tournament was held in Biloela on 21/22 May with 54 players participating. We had strong support
from our local players and from players from Bundaberg, Agnes Waters, Gladstone, Tannum Sands and Rockhampton. We
also appreciated the support we received from the three Sunshine Coast players, our only non-Central Queenslanders.
The DCVSTA also celebrated 30 years of Seniors Tennis in the two Valleys with Stewart Anderson cutting a cake and with
the presentation of a biro to all players. Stewart has been president for the whole 30 years. We wonder if this is a record
for Seniors Tennis? While our numbers were small, the tennis within each group was very competitive, making for several
close results.
Gayle Aldridge, from Tannum Sands, was only player to be a winner in all four sessions. Well done, Gayle.

NEWS BULLETIN from Tennis Veterans Rockhampton Assoc.
Things are going very well at the moment, with 49 active members. We played Friday nights during the summer months in
addition to our normal Sunday mornings at Athelstane Club where they have the latest LED lights now and they are great.
Matches are played with Dawson/Callide, Yeppoon, Kabra and Cressy Tennis Clubs. We also had mens and ladies teams
playing in the May Day Teams Carnival conducted by Rockhampton Tennis Association. I was appointed their Patron at
their latest AGM. The winning A Grade Ladies team were all our Veterans, except one player.
We have now raised almost $2,700.00 over the last four years for the Queensland Cancer Council, hosting Australia’s
Biggest Morning Teas and played an American tournament as well this time, with $250.00 prize money.
Thanks to Des Campbell – Secretary – Tennis Veterans Rockhampton Inc. for this update.
