Pembroke Pines Media: https://youtu.be/EhtQRU0f27M Pembroke Pines, FL…January 26, 2017…It is not too late to make a New Year Resolution, resolve to enjoy a free and relaxing ride all around Pembroke Pines via the free Community Bus Service. Available six days a week, the free Pembroke Pines Community bus service picks up and drops residents off to over 184 scheduled stops/locations. Now in its 22nd year the bus service provides a dual benefit for Pembroke Pines residents who have “places to be and things to do” but do not have access to a car or the money for alternate transportation. By using one or more of the three City routes, residents also save gas money and the hassle of parking when they go shopping, attend college classes, visit library, go to the movies, the ice skating rink, malls, grocery stores, even visiting friends at the hospital. To ensure bus routes are relevant and ridership is maximized, routes are regularly evaluated and adjusted. On a typical day, the bus service travels the Pines Boulevard corridor, from as far East as Broward College South Campus at N.W. 72nd Avenue to the Holly Lake neighborhood just west of U.S. 27 at N.W. 215 Avenue, north to Sheridan Street and south to Pembroke Road. Developed for resident convenience, the bus routes intersect at specified locations and with transit transfers to the Broward County Bus Service. “Residents are always surprised by the ease they have in getting to our route locations. A quick review of the maps and schedule is all it takes to determine the route which best fits the individual need,” said Jacque-Ann D. Isaacs, M.P.A., and Transportation Administrator, Transportation Authority, City of Pembroke Pines–Community Services Department. The Pembroke Pines Community Bus Service is comprised of three routes: Gold, Green and Blue. Each bus route operates on a different schedule. The Gold and Green Routes operate six days a week for 12 hours and the Blue East and Blue West Routes operate three days a week -- Gold 7:30am-7:21pm, Green 7:45am 7:27pm and Blue 8am until 3:25pm. Each bus has bicycle racks, and easy to use electrical wheelchair lifts. The City Bus Service also connects with the Broward County Transit System. Buses do not operate Federal Holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
