Musselburgh Rugby – S1, S2, U15s and U16s Dear Parent / Carer Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Andrew Rose, most people call me Andy. I am the new Musselburgh Rugby Co-ordinator and am based at Musselburgh Grammar in office A45. I have worked part time in Musselburgh for the last two years in both the primary schools and the Grammar and have been fortunate to be brought on full time. I am still and active player and captain a Scottish Premiership club and play international rugby for Zimbabwe. So please excuse the occasional black eye. I am really excited to be involved in the School and can see a lot of potential within each age group and am looking forward to the new conference which starts this weekend against Lasswade High School. Please find relevant information on the season ahead for Musselburgh Rugby’s S1, S2, U15s and U16s. Saturdays match v Lasswade HS For S1s Saturdays match will be a development match focussing on safety and educating the players rather than competition due to player’s ability and experience being diverse. S2s and S3s matches will have an element of competition but again they will also have a focus on development to help integrate all new players into the teams. Below are this weekend’s fixtures against Lasswade S1 and S2 are away @ Lasswade KO @ 1000 Kids meet @ MGS 0834 Bus leaves MGS @ 0845 Bus leaves LRFC @ 1130 Back to MGS @ 1150 U15 and U16 @ Pinkie KO @ 1030 Kids meet @ Pinkie @ 0944 Hospitality afterwards (Can of juice and packet of crisps @ Pinkie) Kids free to leave after hospitality The season ahead: A rugby top will be provided for matches but players should have the following kit for matches: Studded footwear GUMSHIELD* (players will not be able to take part in games or training without one) Shorts (**) Socks (**) * If your child does not have a gum shield or loses it there a limited number available to buy from my office (A45). ** As part of the School of Rugby and Musselburgh Rugby Football Club membership agreement club shorts, socks and a gum shield will be provided In addition to the kit above players should always bring extra clothing (including a waterproof top) to matches and training. Training Times S1 - Wednesday 6 - 7:30pm @ Pinkie (Grass Pitch) - Coaches John Anzani & Mike Colville S2 - Wednesday 5:30 - 7pm @ Pinkie (Grass Pitch) - Coaches Norman Hossack & Declan Slaven U15s - Wednesday 7 - 8:30pm @ Pinkie (3G) - Coaches Robert Bain & John McGillivray U16s - Wednesday 7 - 8:30pm @ Pinkie (3G) - Coach Jason McKinney U18s - Monday & Thursday 4:30 - 6 @ Musselburgh Rugby Club - Coach Andy Rose and Paul Huish Match Fees will be £3 for home and away matches to help contribute towards travel, laundering costs and hospitality. There will be a weekly meeting on a Wednesday at break time in the Gym 1 to confirm matches / update players. Emergency Number If your child cannot make the match they should let us know as soon as possible and if for any unforeseen circumstances (illness etc.) arises on a Friday afternoon or Saturday, please contact either the coaches directly or the following number – 07711785677. If you’re calling the number highlighted, please leave a voicemail message stating your child’s name, year and reason, so that coaches / helpers can be notified. School of Rugby This is a new and exciting initiative being rolled out across the country this year. Those who sign up to the School of Rugby will be getting specialised in curriculum rugby training throughout the year. This will be explained in a Special Parents Meeting on Monday 14th September @ Musselburgh Grammar School. Where we will explain the format of the programme and give us a chance to discuss any issues. Communication- Trying to run a rugby club can be difficult in terms of administrative work, but this can be made easier if we with clear and early communication. We would like parents to add their email address to the PC1 so that we can keep everyone up-to-date with what’s happening in the community Finally, please find the following attached: Fixture list for the 2015/16 season but please note the fixtures will be subject to change and should only use as a guide not as confirmation. Parental Consent form (PC1) which should filled out and returned back to the school (A45) ASAP’ Volunteer Slip If you are wishing to help in any way with the teams, be it coaching, first aid, organising or helping with hospitality please fill this in and return it with the PC1 form (We will provide the relevant training if needed).
