T.E.A.M.
BEHAVIOR
“Together Everyone Achieves
More”
T.E.A.M. staff will use policies and
procedures followed at Carrington
Elementary School. The same
school rules apply to students in
T.E.A.M. as apply during the
regular school day. If a child
continually
misbehaves,
the
T.E.A.M. coordinator may suspend
or un-enroll him/her from the
program. Participation in T.E.A.M. is
privilege not a right.
INTRODUCTION
This family handbook is designed
as an overview of the Program.
The primary goal of the T.E.A.M.
program is to provide a safe and
healthy environment in which
students have the opportunity to
improve
their
learning
and
increase
their
skills
through
academic
and
enrichment
activities. A key component of the
program is family and community
involvement.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
T.E.A.M. serves grades K-6 at the
Carrington
Elementary
School
Monday through Thursday unless
otherwise noted on the monthly
calendar. Students participating in
T.E.A.M. will meet in the lunchroom
ACCIDENTS OR ILLNESS
If your child is experiencing a
fever, a cold with a heavy nasal
discharge, a persistent cough or
symptoms such as severe soar
throat, has vomited in the previous
24 hours, or has a contagious
disease, he/she will not be allowed
to attend T.E.A.M. Should your
child become ill or injured during
T.E.A.M. a parent or guardian will
be contacted by a staff member.
If your child did not attend school
or was sent home during the
school day for any reason, he/she
may not attend T.E.A.M. Health
rules are designed to protect the
well being of all children.
Staff members will use sanitary first
aid guidelines when treating
scrapes or falls. When a serious
accident or injury occurs, T.E.A.M.
staff will notify a parent or
guardian. All emergency numbers
must be kept current to assure a
parent or guardian can be
reached in an emergency. Parents
are responsible for all costs
incurred in the provision of
emergency medical treatment for
their children.
ATTENDANCE
On the registration form parents
indicate days their child will attend
T.E.A.M.
Anytime there is a
change in the indicated schedule
parents are requested to contact
T.E.A.M. staff. If a child does not
sign in on his/her designated day
staff will attempt to call parents to
locate the child. Students who do
not
attend
regularly
on
designated days without prior
notice may be asked to withdraw
from the program.
FEES
Tuition fees paid by participants
largely fund the T.E.A.M. program.
The cost is $40 per month. Fees
must be paid by the first of each
month. Students whose fees are
not paid by the first of each month
will not be admitted until fees are
up to date.
There is no adjustment for
participants who attend fewer
than 4 days a week.
GUESTS
Student guests are not allowed in
the T.E.A.M. program. There is no
drop-in procedure. Adequate staff
is hired only to provide for the
students who are enrolled in the
program.
HOMEWORK
Time is scheduled during T.E.A.M.
that is specifically dedicated to
homework.
All
students
are
expected to have homework,
books to read, or other materials
to use during homework time.
T.E.A.M. staff cannot be expected
to assure that all students
complete all homework but they
will dedicate 45-60 minutes for
homework time each day. Staff
will not be required to sign off on
homework. Individual tutoring is
not available but staff members
attempt to help answer questions
and keep children on task during
the designated homework time.
Parents still retain final responsibility
for reviewing homework as well as
signing the phonics or math
worksheets. Parents should check
student planners each evening
regardless
of
their
child’s
participation in T.E.A.M.
MEDICATION
Medication

not

be
RELEASE OF STUDENTS
Activities end at 5:00 PM. Parents
are expected to checkout their
child(ren) at that time. Students
who have a signed permission to
walk home will be allowed to
leave. Students are checked out
at 5:00PM as soon as an adult
arrives. If students are not picked
up on time, additional fees may
incur.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Carrington community has
been extremely supportive of the
program and has donated to a
scholarship fund. Those families
who have a financial need are
welcome
to
complete
a
scholarship form. A committee of
two
administrators
and
the
business manager review the
applications
and
make
determinations based on need.
Applications must be completely
filled
out
before
they
are
considered. Applicants will be
notified in writing regarding the
award
of
the
scholarship.
Scholarship recipients are required
to have regular attendance. Poor
attendance will result in a forfeit of
the scholarship.
SNACKS
Each day the school lunch
program provides a healthy snack
for children who choose to take it.
The cost of the snack is 50 cents
per day. This amount will be
deducted from the child’s lunch
account regardless of scholarship
status. If the family qualifies for free
or reduced meals the fee will be
adjusted.
Please
notify
the
instructional staff of any special
dietary needs.
STORM DAYS
T.E.A.M. is in session only on
Monday through Thursday when
school is in session. As a general
rule, there will not be T.E.A.M. on
days
before
holidays,
early
dismissals, or when there are
elementary evening events such
as elementary concerts or parent
teacher
conferences.
Please
check your T.E.A.M. calendar
regularly to be informed of special
events, activities and closings. If
school is released due to bad
weather,
T.E.A.M.
will
be
cancelled. Please have a back up
“after school” plan for occasions
such as these.
