Position: Assistant Buyer/Sales
Western Canoeing and Kayaking is Canada’s largest paddle-sports specialty shop. Our success

We are looking for a new full-time team member with a strong aptitude for sales, an eye for
paddling trends, and a great attention to detail. This is an incredible opportunity to get a foot in
the door of the outdoor retail industry in a position that will give credible experience beyond sales
alone.
Applicant Should Possess:










University Degree or equivalent experience in a retail sales atmosphere
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
Incredible customer service skills
A passion for paddling and an understanding of the relevant gear
High stress tolerance and an ability to multitask
Effective time management skills
A team oriented attitude
An aptitude for detail and organization
A desire for learning and increasing responsibility
Able to work weekends
Job Description
As a sales person you will:



Assist customers in store
Take payment for services and products
Assist with showroom maintenance & restocking
As an assistant buyer you will:





Research new products and review old
Assist with building and maintaining supplier relationships
Negotiate prices and monitor shipment timelines
Interpret sales reports and predict future sales
Pitch ideas to senior management





Control stock levels
Keep a pulse on the industry (customer demand, supplier offerings etc.)
Attend trade events
Gather customer and sales feedback
Process and enter special orders




Staff rental rates on kayaks, canoes, and paddle-boards
Pro-deals after 3 months
Health/Dental Benefits after 6 months
Eligibility for profit sharing after 12 months
