To take responsibility for providing leadership and management of staff. To ensure good Safeguarding practice in all aspects of the Scheme’s work. To ensure the scheme maintains high standards of practice supporting families within the ethos of HomeStart. To ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the Scheme’s work To hold ultimate responsibility for all day to day activities in order to respect the budget approved by the Board of Trustees. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, to lead the fundraising process to secure ongoing funding of the Scheme from grants, charitable trusts and statutory bodies and other activities. To oversee the development and maintenance of all databases and data handling systems to effectively meet the provision of the Scheme’s reporting requirements. To act as Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Main Responsibilities Managing the scheme Taking responsibility for the day to day management of the scheme Reporting to and supporting the Board of Trustees to ensure the effective strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme. To recruit all staff for the Scheme in line with the budget, in consultation with the Board of Trustees. To induct, deploy and manage all staff appointments using a proper level of supervision. To ensure all Home-Start policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed. To ensure effective administration and financial systems are in place. To contribute to and support the development of the Home-Start network locally and nationally. Fundraising Acting as the main liaison between Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead and external funding agencies, manage and administer the overall grants process and ensure deadlines are met. To develop and maintain a grant monitoring and review process to include financial reporting of new and ongoing grants. To coordinate the set- up of grant contracts and monitor and report on contractual compliance. To write informative and compelling applications and reports to funding agencies drawing on anecdotal and statistical data and research. To research and identify new funding opportunities at local, regional and national levels and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees. To oversee and report on all local fundraising activity carried out by Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead and external partners, organisations and individuals. Financial Management To oversee the day to day financial activities of the organisation and take ultimate responsibility for the profit and loss account. To prepare and manage the monthly payment of staff salaries, including pensions and HMRC Returns. To manage all returns to the Charities Commission and Company’s House. To bank all monies received. To be responsible for the financial monitoring of grants and contracts. Support for Families To maintain an overview of the work with families. To ensure support to families is of a high standard, in accordance with Home-Start’s model, policies and procedures. To undertake the Strategic Lead on Safeguarding and promoting Children’s welfare. Managing Volunteers Ensuring the scheme maintains an effective team of volunteers. Ensuring the scheme’s policies and procedures are fully implemented in all aspects of working with volunteers including their recruitment, selection, preparation, support and supervision. Ensuring that the Home-Start preparation course is delivered in full and to a high standard to all prospective volunteers Working in Partnership Ensuring appropriate liaison and communication with referrers and other professionals Liaise with local Children’s centres. Networking appropriately within the community. Databases and Internal Systems To be responsible for the ongoing development of all internal database tools and data handling systems. To provide meaningful and accurate data and statistics for internal and external reporting purposes. To ensure the quality and integrity of data by monitoring data entry procedures and how data is organised, stored, accessed and manipulated. Managing in the wider context To promote the Scheme, its profile, ethos and practice. To contribute to the development of Home-Start locally, regionally and nationally. Other duties Occasional evening and weekend work to attend Board meetings, events and conferences. The job holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
