Responsible to Sports Development Manager (SDM)
Responsible for Assist delivery of sport classes as part of Sports Programme
Background Oriam, based in the picturesque woodland campus of Heriot-Watt University, will
become the national training base for football, rugby, basketball and handball, with
football also now featuring heavily within the facility. Oriam, Scotland’s Sports
Performance Centre, is part funded by sportscotland, City of Edinburgh Council and
Heriot-Watt University. The purpose of the facility is to provide a world class training
environment for this country’s top athletes. The facility will also provide exceptional
services to both students and the community.
Oriam Sport Programme, to be launched in February 2017, is a new service to provide
activity to the wider community of all ages based at Oriam. A range of sports classes
will be provided on the Sport Programme as well as birthday parties and facility tours,
among other services.

Coaching Through the Oriam Sports Programme there a range of voluntary coaching
Opportunities opportunities through supported paid coaches deliver sports classes, birthday parties
and group tours, in the following sports:
1. Athletics
2. Basketball
3. Dance
4. Football
5. Gymnastics
6. Multi-sport
7. Netball
8. Racquet Sports (Badminton, Table-Tennis, Tennis, Squash)
9. Rugby
Scope of Role 1. Support allocated coach in delivering sports classes and occasional birthday parties
and tours in line with a planned curriculum. Dates and times will be communicated and
agreed separately.
2. Be an approachable, friendly person with an enthusiasm for providing a fun service.
3. Ensure a register is completed at every coached session for child safety and to keep
an accurate record of participants.
4. Ensure all Sports Programme equipment is maintained and that any faulty
equipment is reported to the Sports Development Assistant.

Obtained, or in the process of obtaining, UKCC Level 1, Sub-UKCC or
equivalent with at least 1 years relevant coaching experience.
