Away games are usually within an hours drive. Tournaments will be decided on a team-by-team basis, because there is a limit on the number of innings a player can pitch in a game/week (72 hours for 14 & 15U players). Teams 10 & under (10U) and 11 & under (11U) start games at the end of April or early May. There will be 1-3 games per week, depending on field league scheduling and field availability (6 innings). Additionally they will have weekly practice. Teams 12 & under (12U) start games at the end of April or early May. The cost to play either baseball or softball is $200.00 for the 1st child, and $150.00 for each additional child. A $75.00 deposit is required with registration per child. Balance is due in January at the mandatory parent/player meeting. (Scheduled for January 19th at 6:30pm at the middle school cafeteria). Families are also REQUIRED to place a $50.00 deposit at this time for volunteer hours. Each family is asked to volunteer 10 hours (no matter the number of children playing). There will be many opportunities for each family to fulfill the 10 hours. Once your family commitment of 10 hours is complete you will receive your deposit back. Players are required to have a personal batting helmet, glove, cleats, pants, socks, and team jersey. All bats must follow the Metro Baseball League requirements. (13U & 14U players can use metal spikes). On January 19th we will hold a mandatory parent/player meeting. At this time we will be taking team orders for undershirts, jerseys if needed, Ellsworth team apparel, and other required equipment. All players must complete a tryout. Tryouts are temporarily suspended, until January 17th. The league is looking to change the cutoff date to Jan. 1st. This will dramatically affect the teams. However all players MUST complete the registration form and return it by the due date to be guaranteed a roster spot. If a player cannot make the tryout due to prior commitments, efforts will be made to offer an alternate date. However each traveling team will consist of 12-13 players. Once a team is full, it is full unless we have enough for 2 teams. Coaches & Assistants. If you are interested in coaching or assisting on a team, you must fill out the coach’s application. Filling out the application does not guarantee coaching positions. We are looking for the right coach for each team. In situations of multiple applications for one team, the board will decide the head coach. Plan to attend the EBSA meeting on Dec 2nd at 6:30pm, at the middle school. Registrations can be brought to tryouts or mailed to EBSA (post marked no later than Oct 14th), PO Box 442, Ellsworth WI 54011. The EBSA will work with anyone who needs financial assistance.
