SmartPTT PLUS Dispatch Software
Overview
SmartPTT PLUS is the premier dispatch software for MOTOTRBO Professional Two-way Digital
Radio System. SmartPTT PLUS together with MOTOTRBO form integrated radio communication
solution providing high quality of communication and extended functionality to build radio networks of
any size and topology.
Architecture and Configurations
SmartPTT is the client-client server application. In scope of the dispatch system it is possible to have
multiple dispatch consoles and radioservers.

Radioserver to MOTOTRBO infrastructure.
SmartPTT Architecture Unique Features:

Ability to connect Dispatch console to multiple Radioservers at the same time. This approach
allows building so called 2-level dispatching having independent regional dispatchers
working with their own Radioservers and HQ Dispatch Center connecting all regional
Radioservers for centralized control.

Ability to save voice and event log at all Dispatch consoles and all Radioservers of the
system. Distributed data and voice log storage guarantees most recent sensitive data
availability even in case of physical damage of some system units. For example, if some site
is completely destroyed by the disaster, last minute calls are still preserved at the dispatch
consoles located remotely from the site.

Data Operations

Text Message Service. SmartPTT Dispatcher Console allows sending text message either to
individual MOTOTRBO subscriber or group. Subscribers with the radio having display and
keyboard can send text message back to the Dispatcher Console.

Email Gateway. Ability for email users to send text messages to the particular subscriber or
talk group in MOTOTRBO radio network. Functionality to duplicate messages sent within
the MOTOTRBO radio network to the email addresses specified in the Radioserver
Configurator.

Job ticketing tool. Job ticketing tool in SmartPTT dispatch console allows a dispatcher to
assign tasks to MOTOTRBO subscribers and follow the process of task completion.
Convenient ticketing table provides quick tasks filtration by their name, status, recipient,
creation time, and status change time.

Telemetry. SmartPTT Dispatcher Consoles allows controlling over GPIO contacts
of MOTOTRBO subscriber radios.

Status Control. SmartPTT supports flexible list of statuses for subscribers. Every status can
have its own color. Statuses can be assigned to subscribers, either from
the dispatcher console or by pressing accessory button on subscriber radio. Status filter in
the dispatcher console allows easy selection of the subscribers having specific status.
Voice Recording
Voice call recording in SmartPTT is done by saving sound files (MP3 format) to specified folder. MP3
file tags are filled with the information completely identifying the call (channel, radioserver, initiator,
call participants, etc.)
Note! SmartPTT PLUS is able to record all private and group voice calls.
Telephone Interconnect
SmartPTT software provides Telephone Interconnect Gateway to make calls between MOTOTRBO
Radio and telephone subscribers. The gateway is the software component embedded into
SmartPTT Radioserver service. Telephone interconnection is established through SIP protocol.
Telephone Interconnect Features:

Private and group radio calls from regular phone

Multiple concurrent channels to telephone network

Possibility to limit list of authorized radio subscribers

Voice call recordings in MP3 format

Full duplex phone calls from and to Dispatch Console
Radio Network Bridging
SmartPTT bridging service for MOTOTRBO provides bridging of separate radio networks into
single communication infrastructure. SmartPTT bridging is able to involve different radio
configurations to build heterogeneous environment.
The bridging service is implemented by SmartPTT Radioserver and provides intelligent means of
bridging for voice and data streams between different radio networks.
Unique feature of SmartPTT Bridging
SmartPTT Radio Network bridging allows dynamic call forwarding for private and group calls.
Example for private call. If subscriber 1 on site 1 makes a call to subscriber 2 on site 2, SmartPTT
Radioserver automatically detects the presence of subscriber 2 at site 2 and forwards the call to site
2. For both subscribers cross-site conversation goes in seamless manner as if they are talking on
the same site.
Example for group call. SmartPTT introduces Multigroup concepts which allows selective channel
key up only at those sites which have the subscriber belonging to the same group. If subscriber 1
makes the Group 1 call it will be bridged only to the sites which have online subscribers assigned to
the Group 1.
Radioserver Redundancy
SmartPTT Radioserver can be installed as the redundant server working in passive mode and
tracking primary server presence through the IP connection. If the primary server accidentally goes
down, redundant server becomes active and all the dispatch consoles are automatically switched to
the redundant server.
Coverage Maps
Coverage Maps is the graphical representation of network coverage area based on RSSI level of
the received signals from GPS-enabled MOTOTRBO radios.
Unique User Interface Features

Customizable dispatcher interface. All visual panels in the dispatcher application can be
arranged into tabs or docked to different parts of the screen. It allows adding and arranging
only those visual panels which are really required by the operator.

Custom Consoles. SmartPTT provides the ability to design custom consoles having
number of visual controls representing PTT buttons, text messages, channel control,
telemetry and others.
