2017 South Yorkshire Kart Club Championship
1. SPORTING REGULATIONS – GENERAL
1.1
Title & Jurisdiction:
The 2017 Championship is organised and administered by the South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd in
accordance with the General Regulations of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association
(incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA) and these Championship
Regulations.

1.3
Competitor Eligibility:
1.3.1
Entrants must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of the South Yorkshire
Club Ltd and be in possession of valid MSA Entrants Licences. Competitors under the age of 18
must be accompanied by the holder of a Kart PG Entrant’s licence who must sign on as Entrant
of that competitor.
1.3.2
Drivers and Entrant/Drivers must be fully paid up valid membership card holding members of the
South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd, be registered for the championship and be in possession of a valid
Competition (Kart) National B (Novice) Licence, as a minimum.
A competitor shall not take time off school to participate in motor sport without the prior written
approval of their school. If participation in the Championship requires absence from school,
drivers in full time school education are required to have the approval of their head teacher and
a letter stating such approval from his/her school in order to fulfil registration for the
Championship.
1.3.3
All necessary documentation must be presented for checking at all rounds when signing-on.
1.4
Registration:
1.4.1
Must be a member of South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd for Championship Registration.
1.4.2
The event entry fee is £47.50 per meeting.
1.4.3
The closing date for entries will be 5 days prior to each meeting.
1.5
Championship Rounds:
1.5.1 The Championship dates will be as follows: 12th March, 9th April, 14th May, 11th June, 9th July,
10th September, 8th October, 12th November, 10th December.

1.6
Scoring:
1.6.1
The points for the A Final will be awarded as follows:Final grid positions: 1st - 25pts, 2nd - 24pts, 3rd - 23pts, reduced by 1 point per position.
Final finishing positions: 1st - 55pts, 2nd - 52pts, 3rd - 50pts, 4th - 49pts reduced by 1 point per
position.
B Final: The first 4 finishers in will score Championship points according to their finishing position
in the A Final. A driver who fails to take up position on the dummy grid for the B Final will not be
given any Championship points. A driver in the B Final that does not make it into the A Final
receives last scoring position minus 3 points.
All karts that come under starter’s orders and take the start will be classified as a finisher.
Any driver who does not start the final (e.g. unable to leave the grid due to technical issues,
leaves the circuit before taking the start) will be given their grid points plus 5.
1.6.2
The winner of the Championship will be the competitor with the highest overall points.
To resolve a tie in the heat points, the driver with the highest points scored in the first heat will
take the higher grid position.
In the event of a tie the Championship will be shared.
1.6.3
Championship Appeal Section C 6.5 of the current MSA Yearbook.
1.6.4
An exclusion from a final: grid points will be given. An exclusion from the meeting results in a
NIL score, this can not be used as a dropped score.
Points scored at 8 rounds to count towards the Championship.
Additional 9 points will be awarded for competing in all 9 rounds of the Championship.
In the event of a meeting being uncompleted for any reason the following will apply:
a) If an event is stopped prior to the completion of the heats in any class there will be no points
or awards given for the event.
b) If an event is stopped after completion of the heats in any class the result will be declared on
the grid position for the final and trophies and championship points awarded accordingly
c) Any refund of entry fees will only be considered if an event is stopped before official practice
has taken place. If an event is stopped after official practice has taken place no refund of entry
fees will be given.
1.7
Awards:
1.7.1
At the end of each round awards will be in the form of trophies, these will be awarded in a ratio
of 1:4 for standard competitors in each class. Novice trophies will also be awarded to the same
ratio, they are not included in the standard competitor ratio. One trophy per competitor e.g if a
Novice finishes in a standard trophy position they will receive this award, the Novice trophy will
be awarded to the following Novice.
1.7.2
After the meeting in May the winner of each class will be awarded with the W Plate, to run at
SYKC for a period of 12 months.
At the end of the Championship trophies will be presented at the annual presentation evening;
the number of trophies awarded to each class is determined by the number of entrants
throughout the season. The Championship winners from each class will be awarded with a
perpetual trophy and the SY plate for a 12 month period.
Perpetual trophies are awarded at the end of the Championship, which will be held for a period
of 11 months.
1.7.3
No Bonuses.

1.7.4
Garlands and Trophies are to be provided for presentation at the end of each race or at an end
of the meeting presentation ceremony. Prize money and Bonuses shall be posted to the Entrants
within 7 days of the results being declared final after each kart meeting.
1.7.5
In accordance with the current government legislation, the South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd is
legally obliged to withhold tax at the basic rate on all payments to non-UK resident
sportsmen/women and account to HMRC using form FEU1, the quarterly return of payments
made to non-resident entertainers and sportsmen/women.
That is, those persons who do not have a normal permanent residence in the UK. The UK does
not include the Isle of Man, Channel Islands or Eire. This means that, as the organiser, the South
Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd is required to deduct tax at the current rate applicable from any such
payments they may make to non-UK residents.
Under certain circumstances, it may be possible for the competitors to enter into an agreement
with the Inland Revenue to limit the tax withheld. Any application for such an arrangement must
be made in writing and not later than 30 days before the payment is due.

1.7.6
In the event of any Provisional Results or Championship Tables being revised after any
provisional presentations and such revisions affect the distribution of any awards the Competitors
concerned must return such awards to the South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd in good condition within
7 days.
2
Sporting Regulations – Judicial Procedures
2.1
Rounds: In accordance with Section C of the current MSA Yearbook, 2017 CIK-FIA Judicial Trial
and South Yorkshire Kart Club Ltd.
2.2
Championship: In accordance with Section C of the current MSA Yearbook and South Yorkshire
Kart Club.
2.3
By registering for the Championship all competitors, and their associates, commit to the MSA
Race ‘n’ Respect campaign and agree to positively promote and demonstrate the Racing Code,
which is appended to these regulations.
2.3.1
Where any reports of disrespectful conduct are judged to be well founded the Championship
organisers may issue warnings or require remedial actions and/or report the matter to the
Championship Stewards who may impose appropriate penalties which can include loss of
Championship points and/or race bans through to Championship Expulsion and referral to the
MSA.

Technical Regulations:
3.1
Karts which conform to the MSA Technical and Safety Regulations as detailed in the current MSA
Yearbook plus ABKC Regulations.
3.2
Classes: IAME Cadet. Honda Cadet, Senior, ROTAX - Minimax, Junior, Senior, Formula TKM Junior, Senior, IAME X30 – Mini, Junior, Senior – KTE-2017-326.
3.3
Safety Regulations as per MSA regulations.
