Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM Invocation Pledge of Allegiance: IB Senior Art Students from Lancaster High School presented their recent art pieces and shared their future educational plans. Special Recognition S. Cole-Hamilton shared the following information: Lancaster ISD mourned the loss of two employees: Ted C. Warren, who retired from the Finance Department last year, and Mary Linndtstaeder, LHS English Teacher. Logan’s Roadhouse donated $1,500 to Lancaster Middle School’s music program. The Early Childhood Department enrolled 398 students during registration week. Lancaster ISD hosted its Career Fair with 181 prospective employees attending. Lancaster High School hosted its Robotics Invitational. On Monday, April 11, the National Junior Honor Society Chapter, inducted 22 new scholars. April is National Autism Awareness Month. Derek Nukols, Rolling Hills Elementary teacher, led the effort to raise awareness on his campus by encouraging everyone to wear blue. Lancaster ISD held the design unveilings for West Main and Pleasant Run Elementary in partnership with the Lancaster Historical Society and Jer Giles. Service Center staff member, Yolanda Williams, recently completed the all the requirements of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, TASBO Education partner, to become a Certified School Risk Manager. The College and Career Readiness Departments of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster ISDs, united to host the Best Southwest FAFSA Madness Event which ended with a Final Four Basketball Tournament with Superintendents, Principals and Staff competing. Lancaster ISD won. The Lancaster Education Foundation presented Charles Richardson, LHS STEM Pitsco Lab Facilitator and the advisor of the LHS Robotics Club and principal Joseph Showell with a total of $10,000 in grant awards. The Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees recently attended the National School Boards Association Conference. Regions Bank surprised the Pleasant Run Elementary teachers with lunch from Jason’s Deli during the week of the STAAR Test. Due to the pending weather, the 7th Annual Lancaster ISD Special Olympics Event was cancelled. April 29-30 is the Lancaster ISD Fine Arts Spring Dance Concert. On May 6, LHS will host the second Advise Texas – Gen-Tex Decision Day event. On May 9, the Lancaster Education Foundation will host the annual Eye of the Tiger Event at the Lancaster Recreation Center.
