Early Childhood Mental Health: How Emotional Intelligence is Developed in early childhood Amy Hunter, Assistant Professor, Center for Child and Human Development, Georgetown University This session will focus on enhancing participants understanding of social emotional development and how it relates to emotional intelligence, peer relationships and relationships with adults. This interactive session will feature a didactic presentation, interactive small group work and the use of multimedia. Beyond Borders: Developing Cross Cultural Connections in Early Childhood - Cassandra Miller, Family Involvement Specialist, Title I, Howard County Public School System How do we prepare students to adapt to a vastly changing and diverse world? The partnerships that exist between home, community, and school incorporate a global mindset into early childhood education. This session will focus on family engagement practices that are essential to creating a culturally responsive environment for young children and their families.
