Registration of Years 10, 11 and 12 students Year 12 EAL/D eligible students Registration of all 2017 Year 10, 11 and 12 students must be completed by 16 February 2017. This will ensure that all students required to sit the OLNA in March 2017 appear in the OLNA student list (LAN001). Student usernames and passwords (LAN002) will be available from SIRS on Monday 27 February 2017. Students in Year 12 who are registered as eligible to be enrolled in a Year 12 EAL/D course in 2017 will be granted an extra ten minutes to complete the reading, writing and numeracy components of the OLNA. (Students do not need to enrol in an EAL/D course in 2017 to receive this entitlement.) Schools will need to complete an eligibility application form available at http://senior‐secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/syllabus‐and‐support‐ materials/english/english‐as‐an‐additional‐language‐or‐dialect. Applications close on Friday 24 February, however to ensure that all details are in the test system for checking by schools, you are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible in February. OLNA publications and forms All OLNA publications and forms are now available from the Authority website at http://senior‐secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/assessment/olna/schools. Potential issues and solutions One of the critical factors in implementing the OLNA is ensuring there is sufficient bandwidth available during scheduled assessments. An outcome of the failure to manage bandwidth is the probable loss of student responses. This will result in the student being required to sit the assessment again. Further information for managing internet bandwidth and wireless connections during the OLNA assessments is available on page 31 of the OLNA Handbook. OLNA Helpdesk The OLNA Helpdesk is available between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm on (08) 9273 6726 or [email protected]. RUSSELL DYER DIRECTOR, STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATION 2016/67978 January 2017
