Keep your eyes to the skies for the annual “Flying 4
Kids” kite fly at Bevier Park. Bring a favorite kite to
the park for a flight with family, friends, and neighbors. Kite kits will also be available for children to
create their own uniquely decorated kite to fly.
This event is organized statewide by the Illinois
Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and
Recreation Association and hopes to raise awareness
of the Park District Youth License Plate, which
features a colorful kite, the ultimate symbol of youth
and recreation. Twenty-five dollars from the sale and
subsequent renewals of each plate lands in a special
grant fund for youth programming at park and
recreation agencies in Illinois.
Join us for a fun-filled day in which mother and daughter can enjoy a special
day together. This year’s tea party theme is “Pretty in Pink”. Everything and
anything will be pink! We encourage both mother and daughter to come
dressed in their prettiest pink outfit, and any pink accessories they may have.
To put a spin on the theme, we also encourage pink attire to be 80s themed,
as to resemble the wardrobes in the 1980’s movie “Pretty in Pink”. Price
includes registration for one child and one mother. Additional parent or child

Live Green Family Festival is a wonderful way for you and your family and to reconnect with
nature. Event offerings include nature crafts, nature walks, outdoor cooking, camping

The challenge is to complete 100 hours of recreation!
Why:
Celebrate the Centennial in a unique way by
incorporating 100 hours of recreation into your lives
during the Centennial Year (Now until 12/26/17).
When: Start on our Centennial birthday, December 26, 2016.
How:
Register you and/or family members for a Spring
program. Each program guide season is considered a
quarter or season, with a 25 hour minimum goal for
each family member.
Where: Track your hours on the Health and Wellness Family
Challenge Form which can be obtained from the Field
House Sports, Fitness and Aquatic Center, Belvidere
Recreation Center or Jack Benny Center.
Registration for the Health and Wellness Family
Challenge is required for eligibility. Please submit all
completed time sheets to any of our locations and

National River Cleanup Day
at the Waukegan River

Meet at Roosevelt Park
As we celebrate our Centennial as a Park District, we want to
continue our stewardship of the Waukegan River which is the
backbone of several of our parks. Join the national effort to
clean up river banks and surrounding land by yourself or with a
team from your organization, church, school or business. Meet at
Roosevelt Park, 520 S. McAlister Avenue in Waukegan. We will
provide refreshments, tools, bags and gloves. Bring a strong back
