Coaches/Assistant Coaches Code of Conduct
1) I will show respect towards all players, team officials, parents, and spectators at
all times, regardless of which team they are a part of.
2) I will teach my players fair play and to respect the game officials
(referees/assistant referees) at all times.
3) I will refrain from using insulting, threatening, or offensive language towards all
players, team officials, parents, and spectators while engaged in team activities
(during games, practices, team outings).
4) I will not yell at or ridicule my players, and I will remember that children should
be encouraged to have confidence in themselves.
5) I will refrain from using inappropriate language, using inappropriate gestures, or
engaging in inappropriate contact with all players at all times.
6) I will never take part in a team event (practice, game, team outing) while under
the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
7) I will ensure that I work in cooperation with referees for the benefit of the game.
8) I agree to coach/assistant coach following a philosophy of development that is
determined by the club.
9) I will take coaching clinics to further develop my coaching skills.
10) I will remember that the players play to have fun and must be encouraged to
have confidence in themselves.
11) I will arrive early (30-45 minutes before a game, 15 minutes before a practice)
and be prepared for games and practices.
12) I will ensure that all players get equal support, instruction, and playing time at
the house level, and that all players get fair playing time at the divisional level.
13) I will ensure that all equipment used during games and practices are safe and
suitable for the age/capabilities of the players.
14) I will inform a player’s parents or guardians if their child sustains an illness or
injury while they are under my care and control.
15) I will ensure that I take into consideration a player’s physical and mental
condition and will not play a player who is too ill or injured to play.
16) I will consistently display a high standard of behaviour in order to be a good role
model for players, parents, and spectators.
17) I am responsible for reimbursing the club for any fines payable by the club due to
my actions or inactions. Failure to pay any fines will result in my suspension from
the club for an indefinite period of time.
I understand and I agree to adhere to the SBMC Coaches/Assistant Coaches Code of
Conduct.
I understand that my coaching position may be revoked if the SBMC Coaches/Assistant
Coaches Code of Conduct has been contravened during a game, practice, or other event
where members of the team are present.
I agree to immediately report, within 24 hours, any contravention of the SBMC
Coaches/Assistant Coaches Code of Conduct that occurs on or off the field to the SBMC
Chairperson, SBMC Vice-Chairperson (Mini), or SBMC Vice-Chairperson (Divisional). I
understand that a failure to do so may result in disciplinary actions.
