Introduction with CASIA project

• Get know about the CASIA project from home university KazNAU
and National CASIA coordinator
• The Project offered wide range disciplines, with focus on
agriculture, life sciences, resource management, climate change
and environmental practices;
• At that time I was looking for master programmes and CASIA
objectives met my needs;
• Admission requirements were clear and not complicated but
assessment of applications against quality and merit was strict;
• Partner universities are top EU universities in agriculture and life
science fields;
Decision made. APPLY !!!

• MSc ES starts two times per year in September and February;
• A goal is to earn 120 ECTS within two academic years;
• Academic years comprises 40 weeks of coursework, 16 weeks of
internship and 24 weeks of thesis research;
• University has six teaching periods per year;

• Individual programme can be adjusted by personal interest and
needs, but in consultation with study adviser;
• Coursework consists compulsory subjects, optional and electives;
• I have taken 10 courses within the Environmental Policy thesis track
• Most of them core subjects and rest are from business &
management studies:

• Most impressive course - European Workshop aimed at executing a
collaborative and interdisciplinary consultancy assignment
commissioned by a client;
• Three phases: Prepartion phase, Field work (Brno), Analysis and
Report
• Thesis research on Reduction of energy intensity by improving
energy efficiency policy in Kazakhstan. Case study: Energy efficiency
policy evaluation in Kazakhstan’s industry.

Career and new work experience
• During the thesis research and interviews get acquainted with
various important actors in energy efficiency field;
• Offered a new position at the National Institute just after the
graduation;
• Responsible for development energy efficiency policy in Kazakhstan;
• Cooperation and interaction with various authorities, associations,
international organizations (USAID, UNDP, GCF, dena, UNIDO,
SEE4All), private sector, business, financial institutions (WB, EBRD,
ADB, FINTEC, IFC);
• Directly involved in the process of organizing several events at
EXPO2017, including presentation of energy efficiency projects in
the National pavilion;
• Participated in different international conferences, capacity building
course (Latvia, Russia, Germany, Singapore, China,)
