My house is safe, dry, the right temperature and I can find private space when I need it. 3: GOOD Where I live is ok. My house is mainly safe, dry, the right temperature and I can find private space when I need it. 2: BAD I don’t like where I live. My house needs repairing against weather and is overcrowded. It’s not always safe. 1: VERY BAD I don’t have a place to live in regularly. I have to move a lot. The places I move to are overcrowded and don’t make me feel safe. CARE I receive regular care from at least one adult (over 18 years) to; - Support me (financially and emotionally) - Encourages me - Make sure I am safe LEVEL 4: VERY GOOD I have at least one adult, who I like, who protects and looks after me. They can fully care for me financially. 3: GOOD I have at least one adult who tries to protect and look after me but they are limited i.e. by age or illness. They try to care for me financially. 2: BAD I have at least one adult who sometimes tries to protect and look after me, but they aren’t always around or interested in care for me, so I often care for myself. 1: VERY BAD There is no adult who cares and protects me. I fully care for myself and sometimes I care for my peers and siblings. HAVING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS I have strong, enjoyable relationships with people around me, such as; - My family - My friends - My community LEVEL 4: VERY GOOD I enjoy spending time with the people around me. If there are any issues we solve them together without big fights. 3: GOOD I often enjoy spending time with the people around me. If there are any issues we might argue, but we make friends again afterwards. 2: BAD I don’t really enjoy spending time with the people around me. We often have arguments and don’t always manage to solve the problems. 1: VERY BAD I find it very difficult to relate with the people around me. I prefer to stay away from them as they don’t understand me and make my life more difficult. BEING ACTIVE I am physically well and active. I know that I will receive appropriate medical care quickly when I am sick. I eat nutritious food and drink clean water regularly to maintain my health. LEVEL 4: VERY GOOD I rarely get sick with any disease that stops me being active. If I do get sick I will get appropriate medical care quickly. I always get enough clean, nutritious food and water to keep me healthy. 3: GOOD I sometimes get sick with diseases that stop me being active. If I do get sick I will get appropriate medical care. I normally get enough clean, nutritious food and water to keep me healthy. 2: BAD I often get sick with diseases that stop me being active. If I get sick I don’t always get appropriate medical care. I don’t often get enough clean, nutritious food and water to keep me healthy. 1: VERY BAD I nearly always get sick with diseases that stop me being active. If I get sick I don’t get appropriate medical care. I don’t get enough clean, nutritious food and water to keep me healthy. RESILIENCE I feel I am generally happy and able to deal with problems in my life. If I have a problem I know I will be able to overcome it. I know that I have trusted people that I can talk to about any problems I have. LEVEL 4: VERY GOOD I am hopeful for my future and feel generally happy with my life. If I have a problem I know I can solve it or who I could trust to go to for help. 3: GOOD I am often hopeful for my future and feel quite happy with my life. If I have a problem I know I might be able to solve it or who I could maybe trust to go to for help. 2: BAD I am not very hopeful for my future and feel quite worried about my life. If I have a problem I can’t always solve it or know who I could trust to go to for help. 1: VERY BAD I am not hopeful for my future and feel depressed about my life. If I have a problem I can’t solve it or know who I could trust to go to for help. DRUGS AND ALCOHOL I understand the dangers of using different types of drugs and alcohol. I don’t use alcohol or drugs in a way that is harmful, either to myself or to others. LEVEL 4: VERY GOOD I have lots of knowledge about drugs/ alcohol and understand their risks. I never use drugs/ alcohol in a way that harms myself or others. 3: GOOD I have good knowledge about drugs/ alcohol and understand their risks. I rarely use drugs/ alcohol in a way that harms myself or others. 2: BAD I have some knowledge about drugs/ alcohol and understand their risks. I might use drugs/ alcohol in a way that harms myself or others. 1: VERY BAD I have limited knowledge about drugs/ alcohol and their risks. CHILD RIGHTS AND PROTECTION I understand what children’s rights are and could hold others to account if they were abusing a child’s rights. But I’m not sure it is improving my knowledge and skills and I don’t think it is appropriate for my age. I am not sure I can achieve great things in the future. 1: VERY BAD I am not able to access good education. Any education available is not improving my knowledge and skills. It is not appropriate for my age. I don’t believe I can achieve great things in the future. INDEPENDENT AND CONFIDENT I know that my rights and opinions are valued. I am consulted on issues that relate to me and my wellbeing. I feel able to make good decisions about my life and my future. I feel confident to offer my opinion when I get the opportunity to do so.
