Availability
Please note that we ask our Gateway Centre (daytime) volunteers to commit to a minimum of four hours per
week, for at least a six month period. Night Shelter (evening or morning) volunteers are asked to commit to at
one session per week for the duration of the Night Shelter period (December – March) – however every offer
of help is welcome and we aim to be as flexible as possible in regards to accommodating people’s availability.

Community Volunteer Agreement
This Agreement describes the arrangement between the 999 Club and our community volunteers. We wish to
assure you of our appreciation of your support and commit to doing our best to make your experience with us
enjoyable, worthwhile and rewarding.
Part 1: The 999 Club
Your role as a volunteer is to help us fulfil our aim of making change count for homeless and vulnerably housed
people. As part of our ongoing commitment to our volunteers, we will:

Provide an induction on the work of the 999 Club, and your role within it, and provide any training or
support that may be required to allow you to meet the standards and responsibilities of the role.
Provide information on relevant 999 Club policies and procedures, including our Equal Opportunities
Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Volunteering Policy and our Complaints Procedure.
Provide a named person who will meet with you regularly to discuss your work and any successes or
difficulties your may encounter, including complaints, compliments, incidents or accidents.
Do our best to help you develop your volunteering role with us, encouraging you to utilise particular
skills or experience you have.
Offer to reimburse your volunteering-related travelling expenses, on production of receipts.
Keep you up-to-date with our news, successes and campaigns via email and post. We promise we will
never share your contact information with any other organisation unless we receive your permission.
Part 2: The Volunteer
We aim to help make your experience with us enjoyable, worthwhile and rewarding. As part of your
commitment to the 999 Club we expect our volunteers to:

Help the 999 Club fulfil its aim of making change count for homeless and vulnerably housed people.
Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
Follow and apply the 999 Club’s policies, procedures and standards in relation to staff, volunteers and
service-users, including our Health and Safety, Volunteering and Equal Opportunities Policies.
Maintain any confidential information of the 999 Club and/or its service-users.
Meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed to, and to give us
reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made where necessary.
Provide two referees and agree to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where necessary.
This agreement is binding in honour only, is not intended to be a legally binding contract between us and may
be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intends any employment relationship
to be created now or at any time in the future.
