CSA League Structure 2016-17

 Proposed League Structures – 2016-­‐17 Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) and the League Operations Committee (LOC) have presented to CSA Member Clubs the planned league structure for the 2016-­‐17 Season. The information below is accurate to the best of our knowledge but is subject to change. 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003 Birth Years -­‐ Competitive League A • 20-­‐30 total teams divided in 10-­‐team ranked divisions • Teams are required to apply for league placement • Promotion/relegation between the fall and spring seasons • 9-­‐10 match season in fall and 8-­‐9 match season in spring • 3 referees per match 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003 Birth Years -­‐ Competitive League B • Multiple levels of play (analogous to the current Classic 1, 2, 3, 4 and Challenge leagues – specific number of divisions TBA) • Teams placed in divisions by club recommendation • Promotion between seasons for league champions only – Note: teams from Competitive League B will not promote to Competitive League A between fall and Spring seasons • 8-­‐match season in fall and 8-­‐match season in spring • Geographical league alignment in divisions with multiple flights 2002 Birth Year • Primary season: fall for girls and spring for boys • Secondary season: fall for boys and spring for girls • Competitive Leagues A and B structure will be same as above during the primary season. • Teams will reset between fall and spring seasons to allow 9th graders born in 2002 to compete for their high school programs and play for the club as well • 9-­‐match primary season; 8-­‐9 match secondary season 2001, 2000, 1999 1998 Birth Years – Competitive League A • 20-­‐30 total teams divided in 10-­‐team leagues • Teams are required to apply for league placement • 9-­‐match season • Combined age groups e.g., 2000 and 2001 will compete in same age grouping and 1998 and 1999 will compete in the same age grouping • State Cup and Presidents Cup will be played in single year divisions 2001, 2000, 1999 1998 Birth Years – Competitive League B • Teams placed in divisions by club recommendation • Multiple levels of play (analogous to the current Classic 1, 2, 3, 4 and Challenge leagues – specific number of divisions TBA) • 8-­‐match season • Geographical league alignment in divisions with multiple flights • Combined age groups e.g., 2000 and 2001 will compete in same league and 1998 and 1999 will compete in same league Recreational Leagues CSA Recreational Leagues will be formed by birth years; however, FC Boulder intends to continue to build recreational teams based on players’ grade level. The teams will play in the age group of the oldest players on the team. CSA has proposed the following game modifications to the Small-­‐Sided Games (SSG) Initiatives for recreational leagues beginning in August 2016: U9-­‐U10 (2008-­‐2007) • Restricted Lines of Defending • Players are not allowed to head the ball – heading violations will results in a drop-­‐ball restart • GKs are not allowed to punt – distribution will be from hands or balls played on the ground • 2x25 minute halves U11-­‐U12 (2006-­‐2005) • 2x30 minute halves • No modifications beyond proposed SSG Initiatives U13-­‐U14 (2004-­‐2003) • Games played 9v9 (8 field players + 1 GK) • 2x35 minute halves U15-­‐U19 (2002-­‐1998) • 11v11 in CSA Recreational League • 7v7 in CSA Metro League
