4. Game Rules:
4.1. The object of the game is to eliminate all opposing players by getting them “out”.
This is done so by:

Hitting an opposing player with a thrown ball below the shoulders
o If a player is struck above the shoulders then he/she is not out, but the player
who threw the ball is not out either.

Note: The Official reserves the right to remove thrower if throw is
deemed reckless or malicious.
o If the player ducks to avoid the ball and is struck above the shoulders then
the player who is hit is deemed out and the throw is considered legal.

Catching a ball thrown by your opponent before it touches the ground.
o This results in the thrower being out and one of your teammates is reinstated
back into game by the official. The player let back into the game will be
determined by the order in which teammates are eliminated, starting with
the first person eliminated.
1

Causing an opponent to drop a live ball as a result of contact by another thrown
live ball.

An opposing player stepping out of bounds.
o This is only enforced when a player is trying to avoid being hit by an
opponent’s thrown ball. Players will not be penalized for retrieving a ball
that is out of the playing area.
4.2. Six dodgeballs will be placed on the center dividing line, equally spaced, to start the
game. All players must line up behind the end line, once the whistle is blown
players may retrieve as many dodgeballs as possible without stepping over the
dividing line. The dodgeballs must be brought back to the end line before they are
allowed to be thrown at opposing players.
4.3. Matches are played through a “best of five” format, with the winner being the first
to win three games.

Officials reserve the right to remove the dividing line at any point if both teams
are deemed to be stalling. This allows teams to advance to anywhere on the
court until one team is declared the winner.
4.4. Protests will only be accepted in cases involving use of an ineligible player.
Protests of judgment calls will not be accepted at any time. Officials reserve the
right to remove any player protesting a call by an official as well as any conduct that
does not represent appropriate behavior.
4.5. Teams are allowed one (1) 60 second timeout per match, allowed only to be called
when there are no opposing players making an attack move.
