Connecting to BYOx with an OS-X (Mac) Device
Connecting with an OS-X Device
This process outlines how staff and students with Mountain Creek SHS identities can connect to
BYOx using an Apple Mac device. Different OS-X versions or devices may vary slightly.
Prerequisites

Must be a DETE user (i.e. have a DETE identity and login details).

Must be added to the Staff or Student Active Directory group
(<schoolcode>GG_UsrBYO<Staff/Student>).

Must have OSX 10.10.4 or later installed to their MAC.
Connecting to BYOx network as a Staff member or Student

Open your wireless settings and select ‘DETE-Guest’ network, uncheck the ‘Automatically
join this network’ button and select ‘Apply’.

Open a browser and attempt to navigate to any site (i.e. https://byox.eq.edu.au).
Whatever site you try to connect to, you will be redirected to a BYOx login page.

Enter your DETE network credentials, read and accept the terms and conditions and then
select “Log In”.

The ‘Device ID’ field will automatically be populated, and a description of your device – e.g.
“My mac’ and select ‘Register’.

The Cisco Network Setup Assistant will attempt to launch java, select “Run”.

Your device will attempt to Run, Select ‘Open’.

Click “Start”.

Enter your personal Mac device username and password as required and select “OK”.

Select “Exit”.
10. Select ‘Allow’
11. You are now connected to the DETE-BYOx network – Navigate to any webpage and enter
your DETE network username and password when prompted.

Once you have on-boarded your device you will need to setup the school network folders (H
drive and G drive).
