What is FitStart?
FitStart is an 8-week team wellness program sponsored by OU Fit that will
be offered from January 18 – March 11.
Who is eligible to participate?
All OU Medicine employees that are OU Fit participants.

Team Details:
 Teams will register through the Wellness Manager, Krystal Floyd.
 Teams will be self-chosen/registered.
 Teams will have a minimum of 5 people and a maximum of 7 people.
 Each team will pick a team captain that will oversee the recruitment,
registration, pre/post check-in’s and track the teams weekly
biomarkers.
Weekly (Monday thru Friday) Team Biomarkers:
 64 oz. of Water Daily
 7 Hours of Sleep Daily
 6,000 Steps Taken Daily
Numbers will be recorded as a daily average.
Pre Assessment:
 Each INDIVIDUAL will be required to have a pre and post check-in.
 Pre-Assessments will include: Height, Weight, BMI & Waist
Circumference.

Team Captains are Responsible for the Following:
 Team Pre Check-In Appointment: Jan. 4 – 15.
 Team Post Check-In Appointment: March 14-18.
 Coordination & Participation of Weekly Challenges.
 Accurate Tracking of Weekly Team Biomarkers.
 Sending Pictures to the Wellness Manager.
 Coordination of Team Meetings.
 Positive Encouragement of the Team.
 Tracking spreadsheets will be sent to each captain.
Point Structure:
 Total Points Available for the Entire Challenge: 400
 50 Points Available Each Week:
o 6,000 steps (daily average): 15 points
o 7 hours (daily average): 15 points
o 64 oz. of water (daily average): 15 points
o Participation of weekly challenges: 5 points
 To win, a team must have 400 points and completed every
weekly challenge.
 Wellness Manager will track challenge totals.
No “sliding scale” will be available for tracking points.
The Wellness Manager will complete the weekly averages
of all the team biomarkers and will distribute points the
following week.
Weekly Challenges:
 Each week there will be a new surprise challenge
announced on Monday.
 Each challenge will correlate with the FitStart weekly
theme.
 Each weekly challenge must be completed with a
minimum of one teammate.
 Some of the Challenges Include:
o The Importance of a Balanced Diet
o Control Stress, Unleash Performance
o Food Labels 101
Video Seminars:
 5-10 minute educational video seminars will be posted on
the OU Fit Portal featuring experts from across the
campus.

steps:
o Log onto the OU Fit Portal: FitThumb
o Go to the “OU Fit Wellness” Drop Down Menu.
o Select OU Fit Blogs.
o Scroll Down to the “FitStart!” Blog.
o Select the Video.
Challenge Component Breakdown:
 Nutrition: 3 Weeks
 Activity: 3 Weeks
 Rest/Stress Management: 1 Week
 Healthy Habits: 1 Week
Awards:
 To win, each team must have a minimum of 300 points to
receive invitations to a victory luncheon, curtsey of OU
Physicians.
 3 Individual Awards.
 3 Team Awards.
 Drawings for various door prizes.
