1.2 Join Coconet
If the Internet user is yet to be a valid user of Coconet, he/she can sign in to become an
authorized user by filling in and submitting the “Join Coconet” online form (see Figure 1.4). Upon
clicking on the “Join Coconet” link, the sign in online form is displayed.
Two types of memberships are available: Trial Membership and Pay Membership. Trial
Membership is free and is for the user to try out Coconet for a period specified by Malaysia
Cocoa Board (MCB). Trial members may access to the services of Coconet for free during the
trial period. All applications are subject to the approval of MCB. It is important to be choosing the
correct desired membership type during application.
Note that the fields appended with red asterisks are required field. The system will only proceed
after all these required fields are entered with valid information. Besides, the system will also
check whether the chosen User ID exists in the database or not. If the chosen User ID has
already exist in the database, which indicates that the User ID has already being used by another
user, the system will prompt the new user to enter another User ID that has not been used yet. All
the fields appended with red asterisks deserve extra attention. However, it is important to ensure
that the information entered in this form is correct, as it will be stored as the user’s profile.
The system assessment is controlled by passwords. This is one of the security feature provided
by Coconet to ensure that only registered and valid users are able to use the system. And it is
also to provide privacy to each user. Thus, the user should always choose a password that is
easy to remember for the user but is not easily guessed by any other unauthorized users.
Password made up of birth dates; last names; or first names are examples of less secured
password, because it can easily be guessed by other users.
Upon successful submission of the sign in form, a Sign In Confirmation Screen (see Figure 1.5) will
be displayed; indicating that the application submitted is being processed. Each application will
be processed within 7 working days after the registration date.

Users can return to the Main Page of Coconet, by clicking on the “Back to Main Page” link.

While waiting for the application to be approved, if the new user tries to log in with his/her
Membership ID and password, an error message will be displayed notifying him/her that a Login
Error has occurred (see Figure 1.6). However, the users can send an email to the administrator by
sending a feedback form via the “Feedback” link for enquiry.
