PlacementforInternationalDentists,orADEACAAPIDforshort,istheonline
applicationforenrollmentinoneof28advancedstandingdentaleducationprograms
acrosstheUnitedStates.Ratherthancompletingindividualapplicationstoeach
program,ADEACAAPIDsimplifiestheprocessbyallowingapplicantstosubmitone
standardizedapplicationtoanyofthese28programs.
Inadditiontothe28advancedstandingprogramsutilizingtheADEACAAPID
application,thereareanadditional7advancedstandingprogramstowhichyoumust
applydirectly,astheydonotaccepttheADEACAAPIDapplication.

Itisimportanttodetermineifitistherightapplicationforyou.ApplicantstoADEA
CAAPIDareforeigntraineddentalgraduateswhoarelookingtopracticedentistryin
theUnitedStatesorCanada.Foreignstudentswhohavenotyetbegunorcompleted
theirdentaleducationinacountryoutsidetheUnitedStatesorCanadaarenot
eligibletoapplythroughADEACAAPID.Theseapplicantswillneedtoapplytoa
traditionalD.D.SorD.M.D.program.Foreigntraineddentistslookingtocontinue
theireducationbypursuingaresidencyinaspecialtyarea,butnotpracticedentistry
intheUnitedStates,shouldalsonotusetheADEACAAPIDapplication.
ADEAofferssimilarcentralizedapplicationsfortheseprogramtypesseparatefrom
ADEACAAPID.TheADEAPASSapplicationcanbeusedtoapplytodentalresidencies
inawealthofspecialtyareas.TheADEAAADSASapplicationcanbeusedtoapplyto

1,2016.Applicantscanbegintocreateaccounts,completetheapplication,and

Therearethreecategoriesofinformationthatareneededtoapplytoadvanced
standingprogramsthroughADEACAAPID– thosematerialsrequiredbyADEACAAPID
forallapplicants;thosematerialsrequiredbyalladvancedstandingprograms,but
notrequiredbyADEACAAPIDdirectly;andthosematerialsonlyrequestedfrom
applicantstocertainadvancedstandingprograms.
ADEACAAPIDrequiresallapplicantstohavethefollowingmaterials:acompleted
ADEACAAPIDapplication;aforeigntranscriptevaluationcompletedbyeither
EducationalCredentialEvaluators(orECE)orWorldEducationServices(orWES);a
DENTPIN,whichisobtaineddirectlyfromtheAmericanDentalAssociationorADA;
andtheADEACAAPIDapplicationfees.
InadditiontothematerialsrequiredbyADEACAAPID,alladvancedstanding
programsrequirethefollowingitemsfromallapplicants:atleast2lettersof
evaluation,withupto3accepted;andofficialTOEFLscorespreferablyfromthe
internetbasedtestorIBTforshort.
InadditiontothematerialsrequiredbyADEACAAPIDandalladvancedstanding
programs,someprogramsmayrequireadditionalmaterials.Materialscommonly

requestedinclude:
scoresfromtheNationalBoardDentalExamparts1and2;DentalAdmissionTestor
DATscores;AdvancedDentalAdmissionTestorADATscores;proofofU.S.citizenship
orpermanentresidentstatus;visainformationforforeigncitizens;aCurriculumVitae
orresume;andaphotograph.Itisimportantforapplicantstocheckthespecific
requirementsforeachadvancedstandingprogramtowhichtheyareapplying.

Thefirststepinapplyingthrough ADEACAAPIDistocreateanaccount.TheADEA
CAAPIDapplicationhome pageisusedtocreatenewaccountsandlogintoan
existingaccount.ApplicantswhohavenevercreatedanaccountwithADEACAAPID
beforewillneedtoclickonthe“CreateanAccount”button.Applicantswhocreated
anaccountduringapreviousapplicationcyclemayusetheirsameaccount
informationtologintothecurrentapplication.Applicantsareabletologbackinto
theiraccountafterithasbeencreatedatanypointduringtheapplicationcycle.

New applicantswhohavenevercreatedanaccountwithADEACAAPID willbeasked
toprovidebasicinformationincludingtheirname,contactinformation,andaccount
informationsuchasusernameandpassword.
Applicantswhocreatedanaccountduringthepreviousapplicationcyclecanlogin
usingtheirexistingaccountinformation.Theseapplicantswillbepresentedwitha
checklistofitemstocompleteinordertobringtheirapplicationinformationforward
intothenewapplicationcycle.

Applicantsreapplying throughADEACAAPIDwillfirstneedtodecideiftheywishto
startabrandnewapplication,orbringforwardinformationenteredontheirprevious
application.Startingafreshapplicationmeansnoinformationwillbebrought
forward,andoncethisoptionisselected,itcannotbeundone.Allpreviouslysaved
informationwillbeerasedandcannotberetrievedatalaterdate.

Re-applicantsoptingtobringforwardapplicationinformationwillbeaskedtoselect
whichinformationfromtheirpreviousapplicationtheywishtoincludeintheirnew
applicationforthecurrentyear.Datawhichre-applicantscanbringforwardincludes:

carriedintoanewapplication.ThisinformationincludesagreementtotheADEA
CAAPIDreleasestatements;thepersonalstatementoressaywritten;anylettersof
evaluationpreviouslyreceived;anypaperWESorECEforeigntranscriptevaluations
received;allinformationprovidedintheprogrammaterialsportionoftheapplication

havebeencompletedwithinthelast5yearslistedontheapplication.

resultsontheADEACAAPIDapplication,officialscorereportsmustbesentdirectlyto
theprogramstowhichanapplicantisapplying,ifrequiredbythatprogram.
ApplicantscanalsoselfreporttheirTOEFLscoresinthisportionoftheapplication.
ADEACAAPIDdoesacceptofficialTOEFLscoresdirectlyfromETSonly.Tohaveyour
officialTOEFLscoressentdirectlytoADEACAAPID,pleaserequestscorestobesent
tothescorecodeforinstitutionB451:AmericanDentalEducationAssociation’s
ADEACAAPIDscorereportingcode.
WhileADEACAAPIDdoescollectofficialTOEFLscores,someadvancedstanding
programsdorequireofficialTOEFLscorestobesentdirectlytotheprogram,aswell.
ApplicantsareencouragedtocheckthespecificTOEFLscorereportingrequirements
foreachprogramtowhichtheywishtoapply.
ForanyapplicanttakingtheAdvancedDentalAdmissionTest,theirresultswill
automaticallybeprovidedtoADEACAAPIDbytheADA.ADEACAAPIDwillprovide
theofficialresultsforeachapplicantdirectlytoalloftheirdesignatedprogramsat
threepointsduringtheapplicationcycle:inOctober,DecemberandFebruary.The

resultswillbesentoutsideofADEACAAPIDandwillnotbevisiblewithinthe
application.

Aforeigntranscriptevaluationforeachforeigninstitutionattendedisrequired.No
originalforeigntranscriptswillbeaccepted,andtheyshouldnotbesenttoADEA
CAAPID.
ADEACAAPIDacceptsforeigntranscriptsfromEducationalCredentialEvaluators,or
ECE,andWorldEducationServices,orWES,only.Foreigntranscriptevaluations
completedbyanyotherevaluationservicearenotaccepted.Inadditiontothis
requirement,allforeigntranscriptevaluationsmustbereceivedelectronicallydirectly
fromeitherECEorWES.Applicantsareabletorequestanelectroniccopyoftheir
ECEorWESevaluationfromdirectlywithintheapplication.Applicantswho
previouslyapplied,buthadsentinapapercopyoftheirECEorWESevaluationwill
needtorequestanew,electroniccopybesentusingthisprocess.
Aseachadvancedstandingprogramspecifieswhichforeigntranscriptevaluation
serviceispreferredorrequiredfortheirprogram,applicantsshouldcheckthe
requirementsonforeigntranscriptevaluationsforeachprogramtowhichtheyare
applying.

herdesiretopursueanadvancedplacementprogramintheUnited States.

While ADEACAAPIDdoesnotrequireapplicantstoprovideanylettersofevaluation
inordertosubmitanapplication,eachadvancedstandingprogramdoesrequire
applicantstoprovideatleast2lettersofevaluation,withmanyacceptingupto3.
Applicantsareaskedtoprovidethenameandemailaddressforeachletterof
evaluationauthor.Letterwriterswillthenreceiveinstructionsonhowto
electronicallyprovidealetterofevaluationdirectlytoADEACAAPIDonbehalfofthe
applicant.AllletterscollectedbyADEACAAPIDmustbeprovidedelectronically– no
paperevaluationswillbeaccepted.Lettersmustalsobewrittenonletterheadfrom
theinstitutiontheauthorisaffiliatedwith,andcontainthesignatureoftheauthor.
WhilethesearetherequirementsspecifiedbyADEACAAPIDforlettersofevaluation,
someadvancedstandingprogramsmaymakeexceptionsforextenuating
circumstances.

Thefinalportionoftheapplicationistheprogrammaterialssection.Eachprogram
anapplicanthasselectedwillappearinthissection.
Eachadvancedstandingprogramhastheopportunitytocollectseveraldocuments
fromapplicantsviatheADEACAAPIDapplication.Programscanrequestthat
applicantsuploadanunofficialcopyoftheirTOEFLscorereport.Thisunofficial
TOEFLscorereportwouldbeinadditiontotheofficialscoresbeingsenteither
directlytotheinstitutionortoADEACAAPID.
InadditiontotheunofficialTOEFLscorereport,someprogramsmayallowapplicants
touploadcopiesoflettersofevaluation.Thisoptionisofferedtoapplicantswho
haveobtainedacopyoftheirletterfromanevaluatorwhomaynotbeableor
availabletoprovidealetterdirectlytoADEACAAPID.Notallprogramswillaccept
applicantuploadedletters.Allattemptsshouldbemadetohavelettersofevaluation
provideddirectlytoADEACAAPIDbytheauthors.
ProgramsalsohavetheoptionofrequestingorrequiringaCVorresume,unofficial
copiesofnationalboarddentalexamresults,anotarizedcopyofanapplicant’sdental
degreeoranyotherprogramspecificdocuments.

standingprogram,applicantscansubmittheirapplicationforthatprogram.
Applicantsareabletosubmitforoneormoreprogramsatatimebyselectingthe
SubmitApplicationtabandclickingonthePayandSubmitthisProgrambutton
underneatheachprogramtheyarereadytosubmitanapplicationfor.Ifthegreen
barisnotfullandthePayandSubmitthisProgrambuttonisnotavailable,the
applicationforthatprogramisnotyetcompleteandthuscannotyetbesubmitted.

ThefeesfortheADEACAAPIDapplicationare$245forthefirstadvanced standing
programappliedto,and$99foreachadditionalprogram.ADEACAAPIDaccepts
creditordebitcardpaymentsonly.Allpaymentsmustbemadeonlinethroughour
securepaymentprocessingsystem– nochecks,money,ormoneyorderswillbe
acceptedandshouldnotbemailedtoADEACAAPID.
Mostadvancedstandingprogramschargeasupplementalapplicationfeeinaddition
totheADEACAAPIDapplicationfees.Theseprogram-specificsupplemental
applicationfeesshouldbepaiddirectlytotheprogramrequestingthepaymentper
theirinstructions.

Applicants areabletocheckthereceiptstatusoftheirforeigntranscriptevaluations
andlettersofevaluation,aswellasthestatusoftheirapplicationforeachdesignated
programviathe“CheckStatus”tabatthetopoftheapplication.
Onceanapplicationiscompleteforadesignatedprogram,nofurtherupdatesonthe
admissionsstatusoftheapplicationwillbeprovidedviaADEACAAPID.All
admissionsdecisionswillbeprovideddirectlytoanapplicantbytheprogram.Again,
ADEACAAPIDmakesnodeterminationsontheeligibilityofanapplicantfora
program,nordoesADEACAAPIDhaveanyinfluenceovertheadmissionsstatusofan
applicantataparticulardentalschool.Noinformationonadmissionsdecisionsor
enrollmentstatuswillbeprovidedbyADEACAAPID.Thisinformationwillbe
providedbytheindividualdentalschoolstowhichanapplicanthasapplied,and
questionsregardingoffersofadmissionshouldbedirectedtoeachindividual
program.
