Reagan Report Addendum for 2015 I have reduced the growth rate factor for White Pine from 5.0 to 2.5. I had based the 5.0 on only 1 source. I measured some white pines that were planted over 20 years ago. They had grown 10” bigger in diameter. Based on a growth rate factor of 5.0 it would have meant that the trees were planted 50 years ago. This substantiates the change. Below are trees located at some of the schools that Master Tree Stewards teach at. They are listed as follows: School, Town, tree type, diameter in inches x growth rate factor = approximate age, location Woodland, Plainfield, Pin Oak, 38” x 3.0 = 110 years, right field in ballfield Cook, Plainfield, White Oak, 34” x 5.0 = 170 years, behind retaining wall on right side Hehnley, Clark, Black Oak, 30” x 5.0 = 150 years, next to playground Hillside Ave., Cranford, White Pine, 24” x 2.5 = 60 years, by entrance “ “ , Pin Oak, 26” x 3.0 = 80 years, by playground Orange Ave., Cranford, Pin Oak, 36” x 3.0 = 110 years, right side near bleachers Brookside, Cranford, N.
